Tom King takes on… Friends?

Static joins New Titans.

Minor Threats team takes on “earthquake noir.”

This is Comic Book Club News for May 27, 2026.

Vision Team Reunites For Six Of Us:

Now that he’s all done turning the Justice League International into depressed murderers, writer Tom King is turning his attention to the next logical thing: NBC’s Must See TV Thursday night lineup. And he’s bringing his Vision cohort Gabriel Hernández Walta along with him for the new Dark Horse noir, Six of Us.

The “brutal story of grief and lies behind the camera lens” focuses on a cast member of a hit show dying under mysterious circumstances, with the surviving cast’s secrets and lies coming to light in the process. If the art looks a lot like a certain show called Friends? Well, yes. And one tends to wonder when this was written/drawn, what with Matthew Perry dying of ketamine use and accidental drowning in 2023, but I digress.

Six of Us #1 hits stores on September 9, 2026.

Static Joins New Titans:

Here’s a shocker: DC Comics‘ Static, aka Virgil Hawkins, is officially joining the New Titans with issue #38, after a prelude story in New Titans #37. And okay, fine, this isn’t so shocking, I just wanted to go for a “Static Shock” pun. Sue me. I dare you! Call your lawyers! I’ll take this pun all the way to the Supreme Court!

Written by Tate Brombal with art by Sami Basri, the storyline follows up on Static joining the DC Universe proper in DC K.O.: The Kids Are All Fight special, and the New History of the DC Universe: The Dakota Incident, which realigned the history of the Milestone Universe with the DC Universe.

Static will join the team just in time to help them with a new crisis in the Amazon. Not with the Amazons, but in Brazil.

Fun history fact: After the original end of the Milestone Universe, Static became a part of the Teen Titans starting with 2009’s Terror Titans #4. To quote Battlestar Galactica, “all this has happened before and all this will happen again.”

New Titans #38 will hit stores on August 19, 2026.

Minor Threats Team Takes On “Earthquake Noir”:

Normally you don’t get an “earthquake noir” story, but hey, some of the guys behind the Minor Threats universe don’t do what you would expect. And Jordan Blum, Tim Seeley and Scott Koblish are shaking things up with The Big Shakedown from Dark Horse Comics.

The book focuses on a private investigator trying to find a lost girl in Los Angeles five years after “The Big One.” While a third of the population is already missing thanks to the earthquake, trying to track down this one lost girl leads our PI to “uncover a dark web of cults, conspiracy, and corruption that threatens every Angeleno who stayed behind.”

The Big Shakedown #1 hits stores on September 16, 2026.
