On today’s episode we’re taking a look through the highlights from DC Comics August 2026 solicitations, including Absolute Universe, a Gotham City crossover and much more.

This is Comic Book Club News for May 25, 2026.

DC Comics August 2026 Solicits Highlights:

The Gotham City event “Bad Seeds” kicks off in two issues in August: Poison Ivy #47 for a prelude, while things go hog wild in the one-shot Batman: Bad Seeds – Sunset #1 as Mayor Ivy decides to decimate the city. Meanwhile, in Batman #12, Alfred gives Batman a gift from beyond the grave in the form of a new ally.

But wait, that’s not the only event this month. “Kingdom of Zod” kicks off in the Superman family of books with Supergirl #16 finding a team heading to the Kryptonite Kingdom, only to see Zod unleash the K-Zone, which I really don’t think you’re allowed to do in an all-ages comic book. The event continues with the return of Superman to the fray in Action Comics #1101, and throughout the month leading into Superman #41 which promises it will change the DC Universe forever. Yeah, right. But maybe!

Over in the Absolute Universe, Absolute Batman #23 finds Batman battling the Robins and teases that “more friends become enemies.” Absolute Green Arrow #4 debuts a new “Absolute take on a classic DC character.” Absolute Superman #22 begins Superman’s search to bring down Brainiac, leading to a game-changer in issue #25. And the gods come to Gateway City in Absolute Wonder Woman #23.

Moving up to the Next Level, Next Level: One Shot #1 from Gerry Duggan and Fernando Blanco focuses on Deadshot, and tees up significant events for the DC Next Level characters. Batwoman #6 brings on guest artist Jeff Spokes. And the solicit text for The Deadman #3 by the team behind Ice Cream Man is… Bonkers. Here’s a taste: “The third edition of this morbid disquisition concerning the attrition/detrition of the human condition, which, in the weekly tradition, boasts a four-color exhibition on some printer’s emission.” And it goes on from there.

Wrapping things up, Batman & Robin: Year One – Dynamic Duos kicks off a new 12-issue maxiseries from Mark Waid and Chris Samnee. And Vertigo continues to rebuild with Black Tower: The Raven Conspiracy, a magic-noir from Ram V and Mike Perkins.
