Iman Vellani Pens Image Comics Series:
Pretty soon they’re gonna have to start calling her Ms. Image, as Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani is snagging her first solo writing credit with Image Comics‘ Chachu, featuring art by Marianna Ignazzi.
Based loosely on Vellani’s own experiences in the entertainment industry, the new five-issue miniseries is a neo-noir mystery following “a 19-year-old Pakistani-Canadian girl with a penchant for film and pulp novels, who travels to California hoping to connect with her estranged uncle—her ‘Chachu’—a middle-aged, semi-retired private eye once famous for marrying the starlet he was initially hired to find. But when his wife mysteriously vanishes once again, the two are forced on an impromptu road trip investigation that transforms her first taste of adulthood into a thrilling confrontation of family secrets, unresolved grief, and the fantasies both she and Chachu have built their lives around.”
Vellani has previously co-written several Ms. Marvel comics for, well, Marvel. Chachu #1 will his stores on August 5.
Marvel’s The Hood Gets Origin One-Shot:
DC’s Absolute Universe and Image’s Invincible get a lot of kudos for bringing new fans into stores. But a third property garnering new readers? Marvel Rivals. So it makes sense to see yet another one-shot set in the world: Origins of the Hood: Marvel Rivals #1, setting up Parker Robbins’ appearance in the game.
Written by Paul Allor with art by Francesco Archidiacono, per the title it’ll jump to the beginnings of the demonic hood wearer, and show how he became who he is today. This, by the way, originally ran in the Marvel Rivals Infinity Comic, and is now yours to take home. The issue will feature appearances by Kingpin and others as The Hood finds himself in prison with none other than Captain America.
Origins of the Hood: Marvel Rivals #1 hits stores on August 5.
Amazing Spider-Man #1000 Creative Teams Revealed:
Noah Hawley will bring a legion of talents to something totally alien to him: his Marvel Comics debut on Amazing Spider-Man #1000. Fargo.
Alongside Hawley, the issue will sport a lead story by Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz that, per a press release, “serves as both a culmination of their work on the title so far AND a pivotal moment that launches into the next phase of their acclaimed run!” What does that mean? Well, to continue to quote, “Spider-Man faces his greatest fear and his most frightening new villain in decades. Who is this Ravage? And how will his history-shattering power force Peter to question his very legacy? It’s one of Spider-Man’s most personal battles to date, and one that will shape his path for the next 1,000 issues!”
Given Ravage seems to be breaking through a picture of Aunt May and Uncle Ben, what does that mean for the new Peter Parker “cousin” that’s been introduced in the pages of ASM? We’ll have to see.
Alongside the aforementioned creatives, the issue will also boast contributions from John Romita Jr., Frank Miller, Peach Momoko, Stuart Immonen, Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Slott, J.M. DeMatteis, Patrick Gleason, and Marcos Martin.
Amazing Spider-Man #1000 hits stores on September 16, 2026.
