Poison Ivy Transforms Gotham City Into A Prehistoric Nightmare In Batman Crossover Event ‘Bad Seeds’

Batman: Bad Seeds – Sunset #1 main cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Cliff Rathburn and Tomeu Morey crop

The latest Gotham City crossover is here, and Poison Ivy is about to transform Batman’s hometown into something downright prehistoric.

All set on one dark night in Gotham (is there any kind), Ivy, per PR from DC Comics, “unleashes a desperate act of eco-terror that transforms Gotham into a hostile landscape of prehistoric plant life.”

The event is “showrun” by Matt Fraction, who is currently writing Batman, and G. Willow Wilson, who is writing Poison Ivy. So you may not be surprised to know that the events will cross over in both titles. But as a Batman linewide event, it will also consume Detective ComicsBatgirlBatwomanCatwomanNightwing, and Harley Quinn over the course of ten weeks in real world time.

Things kick off with a prelude in Poison Ivy #47 by Wilson and Leandro Fernandez, as current Mayor Pamela Isley has had it with these motherf**king Gotham City citizens on this motherf**king, er, city. Then it continues in Batman: Bad Seeds – Sunset #1, a one-shot by Fraction and Wilson with art by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Cliff Rathburn, and Tomeu Morey, as night falls, Gotham loses its power, and Ivy makes her move to decimate the city. Complicating things? Police commissioner Vandal Savage has declared war on the Bat-Family, leading to an escalating situation that will fine “the GCPD fractured under Commissioner Vandal Savage’s militarized rule, and civilians trapped in a city turning against them, Gotham City becomes a living battleground where every chapter brings a new evolution.”

Poison Ivy #47 hits stores on August 26, and Batman: Bad Seeds – Sunset #1 hits on, get this, August 26. The event will continue through September and conclude in October across the aforementioned series as well as to-be-revealed “event titles.” Check out covers from these first two issues below.
