After a curious roll-out for the first Lanterns teaser trailer, which kept the, you know, Green Lantern stuff in the HBO Max series on the back-burner, those special effects you asked for have arrived in the new teaser trailer for the upcoming DCU series.
When the first teaser was released, it faced a weird amount of backlash for the muted tone and color palette, as well as the lack of any ring action from Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre). And then the trailer was pulled, though despite the conspiracy theories not for any nefarious reasons; it was for music rights.
Well, now there’s a second trailer that hopefully should put some of that agita to rest, as there’s plenty of alien energy pulsating throughout the two minute long look. In addition to Hal actually making constructs with his ring, including a protective shield and some counterfeit money, we also get to see him in costume, as well as an appearance by Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. And we also get a better sense of the plot, which seems to find Hal and John battling for the ring itself. Why? And how? We’ll have to wait until Lanterns hits HBO Max on August 16 to find out.

Additionally, the teaser revealed a first look at critically acclaimed actress Laura Linney, who will appear in the DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television series. Starring Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, and Kelly Macdonald, LANTERNS will debut August 16 on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
