Anand RK wins Pulitzer!
Mad Cave announces Indigenous anthology.
This is Comic Book Club News for May 12, 2026.
Marvel’s Thor Celebrates 800 Issues:
Numbers: how do they work? Nobody knows, of course, and in the case of Marvel that gives them the opportunity to celebrate 800 issues of Thor with The Mortal Thor #14.
Featuring a new main story from Al Ewing and Pasqual Ferry which pits Sigurd Jarlson (the mortal Thor) up against “The Serpent’s most heinous test yet,” the issue will set up the next iteration of the title after Ewing’s The Immortal Thor, and now The Mortal Thor. Just spitballing: The Moral Thor? And he fights ethical conundrums? Okay, maybe not.
In addition to the main story, the book will also feature an anniversary story by Chris Condon and Jesse Lonergan, as well as a new story by Kieron Gillen.
The Mortal Thor #14 aka Thor #800 hits stores from Marvel on August 19, 2026.
Anand RK Wins A Pulitzer:
Last week the Pulitzer Prize Board announced this year’s winners, and this podcast was once again robbed. Robbed, I say!
One comics-related thing that wasn’t robbed? Artist Anand RK.
Per The Beat, Anand RK, who recently worked with writer Ram V on Resurrection Man for DC, won the Pulitzer for Illustrated Reporting and Commentary alongside Suparna Sharma and Natalie Obiko Pearson for their comic TrAPPed. Published in Bloomberg in December, the strip focused on the digital arrest of an Indian neurologist, as part of a bigger story about online scams in India.
So congrats to Anand RK. And next year, Pulitzers. Next year.
Mad Cave To Publish Indigenous Anthology You Are On Native Land:
Mad Cave Studios will publish a new anthology to support and raise awareness around the Missing & Murdered movement with You Are On Native Land: A Charity Comic for Indigenous Rights.
The one-shot will collect, per PR, “stories and art donated by some of comics’ leading Indigenous creators,” and feature “Tales of native resistance, family and kinship, love and grief fill the book, including a special reprint of Tribal Force #1, the first comic to feature a superhero team made up entirely of Indigenous heroes.”
All profits from the book will be donated to “Not Our Native Daughters, a Native-led, survivor-led organization dedicated to addressing the Missing, Murdered, and Exploited Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) crisis.”
You Are On Native Land will hit stores on September 15, 2026.
