Remender and Epting launch Hammerfist.

Comixology… No more?

Witchblade meets Vampirella.

This is Comic Book Club News for May 7, 2026.

Rick Remender And Steve Epting Punch Into Hammerfist:

Rick Remender is back at it again with a new title with art by Steve Epting. Titled Hammerfist, the new Image Comics series being described as “Reservoir Dogs collides with Evil Dead.”

Per IGN, the book focuses on “a dirtbag hitman, junkie, and absentee father who’s spent his life chasing the easy fix—drugs, cheap sex, and murder for money—while failing the one person who still believes he can be better: his daughter. Now, on the eve of BLACK NOON—an ancient darkness that erases the light in all things—Mike has to drag himself out of the gutter, awaken a supernatural weapon powered only by love, and fight his way through the living embodiment of evil to save her.”

Hammerfist #1 hits stores on August 26, 2026

Comixology’s Final Employee Has Left The Company:

Is it curtains for Comixology? Per The Beat, the last remaining employee of the company has exited, with General Manager and Chief Technology Officer Jeff DiBartolomeo letting contacts know he’s no longer with the former digital comics giant.

While it’s unclear whether anyone is still actually working at the company, the Comixology Originals imprint will continue, at least for the time being… Pamela Horvath of Superfan Productions who previously handled PR for Comixology will now also be handling creator inquiries, and the company — meaning Amazon — will reportedly honor existing commitments.

This is a sharp turn from a few short months ago, when Comixology touted a big booth and big 2026 plans at New York Comic Con. It’s also not quite the final nail in the coffin for the long diminished brand, given the ongoing nature of certain comics and graphic novels. But it’s definitely a nail, and an unfortunate note in the history of a company that once seemed to be the future of comics.

Witchblade Meets Vampirella In New One-Shot:

In a case of “less clothes is more,” Witchblade will meet Vampirella in a new one-shot from Image Comics and Top Cow, to be followed by another one-shot from Dynamite.

The first one, titled Witchblade/Vampirella #1 will be written by Marguerite Bennett with art by Laura Braga, while Dynamite’s book — titled, and you’re not going to believe this, Vampirella/Witchblade #1 — will be written by Erica Schultz with art by Valentina Pinti.

This isn’t the first time they’ve teamed up, though it has been 20 years since the last crossover. This time around, at least in the first one-shot, Sara Pezzini ends up battling a mutated vampire, until Vampirella pops up to help. Unfortunately, Witchblade has already been infected by the creature. Spitballing here, but will the two first fight, then team up, and later maybe buy shirts? Probably not the latter.

Witchblade/Vampirella #1 will hit stores on Wednesday, August 26, followed by Dynamite’s one-shot in September.
