The Mandalorian and Grogu comes to comics.

Bug Wars returns from Image Comics.

Happy birthday, David Michelinie!

This is Comic Book Club News for May 6, 2026.

Mandalorian And Grogu Comes To Comics:

The Mandalorian And Grogu is heading to comics for the first time with the all-ages one-shot Danger in the Dark from Papercutz and Mad Cave Studios.

Written by Delilah S. Dawson, with art by Arianna Florean, the one shot will feature the titles characters alongside the Anzellan droidsmiths. So expect lots of “bad baby!” incoming. Set underneath the surface of Nevarro, Mando, Grogu, and friends are trying to find a crashed pirate ship and end up facing “creepy creatures” along the way. As you might expect, Grogu isn’t doing a good job of listening — and neither is Mando.

Aimed at younger readers, the book will come [checks notes] two whole months after the movie hits theaters, on July 22, 2026. This is the way!

Bug Wars Returns From Image Comics:

It’s time to head back to the backyard as Jason Aaron, Mahmud Asrar and Image Comics are returning to Bug Wars with the sequel series, The Coming of Wardoom.

In the eight issue series set six months after the events of the original (and the Spyder Wytch one-shot), Slade Slaymaker is living his life as a normal sized human, when he’s “dragged back into a brutal world where roach knights ride, squirrel armies gather, and survival means choosing your side in a war no human was meant to fight.”

If you don’t know what that means, think Honey I Shrunk The Kids meets Game of Thrones, as the unassuming Slade shrunk down into his own backyard, getting stuck in the middle of a massive war between different bug clans.

Bug Wars: The Coming of The Wardoom #1 hits stores on August 19, 2026.

Happy Birthday, David Michelinie:

We’re celebrating the birthday of another icon today, as writer David Michelinie turns 78 years old.

Born in Louisville, Michelinie started his comics career at DC Comics on titles like House of Secrets and Swamp Thing — but its his work at Marvel that has made the most impact, starting with the “Demon in a Bottle” storyline in Iron Man, running through “Armor Wars,” and continuing with long stints on both Avengers and Amazing Spider-Man, introducing Venom and Carnage.

In fact, Michelinie still holds the record for second longest run on Amazing Spider-Man, and later revamped Venom as a “lethal protector” antihero in his own, solo title.

Around the same time, Michelinie also helped buoy Valiant Comics to prominence, and has returned to both Venom and Iron man — as well as Spider-Man — time again over the intervening decades. So happy birthday, and here’s to many more to come!
