Marvel’s marvelous May is remarkably event free, except for the ongoing end of the Ultimate Universe. But hey, just because it isn’t all “everything changes!!” that doesn’t mean there aren’t titles worth your time.
For example, there’s a Spider-Man one-shot revealing the origin of one of the more intriguing villains of the past few years, a one-shot focusing on a fan fave X-Men, and the publisher’s annual Pride issue.
Plus more! So read on for our most anticipated titles, presented in chronological release order.
1. Jubilee: Deadly Reunion #1

Release Date: May 6, 2026
This one-shot is a Marvel Voices special by Gene Luen Yang and Michael YG, which should be impetus enough to pick it up. But here’s hoping they figure out a way to streamline a great character that has become extremely confusing in the past few years. Fingers crossed!
2. Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian Andor #1

Release Date: May 6, 2026
The first of a series of one-shots honoring the anniversary of Rogue One, after the banger TV show Andor it’ll be great to spend time with this character again. Will it match up to the show? Find out in May!
3. Civil War: Unmasked #1

Release Date: May 6, 2026
Another anniversary series, Civil War isn’t an era we necessarily need to return to, but with Christos Gage at the helm — he’s been writing a bunch of these “events revisited” series and they’ve all been good — we’re ready to choose sides, one more time.
4. Ultimate Endgame #4

Release Date: May 13, 2026
The reception to this event has been mixed, at best, but after the big death the last issue it’ll at least be interesting to see what happens next as the Ultimate Universe barrels to its conclusion.
5. Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral – Body Count #1

Release Date: May 13, 2026
Death Spiral was one of the better events in recent memory, and Torment was one of the better new villains, as well. Here he takes the spotlight in this one shot for his origin, revealed.
6. Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day #1

Release Date: May 13, 2026
While not directly tied into the upcoming movie, this does return Dan Slott to the “Brand New Day” era, and works in The Punisher. You know, like in the movie. Slott told us on a recent podcast this is set in the past, but if it sells well will be an ongoing series with big ramifications for upcoming continuity.
7. Wolverine: Weapons Of Armageddon #4

Release Date: May 20, 2026
Inasmuch as it can be “important” to read a superhero comic book, this one leads directly into the events of Avengers: Armageddon, so plan your Wednesday accordingly.
8. Ultimate Impact: Reborn #1

Release Date: May 20, 2026
FKA Reborn: Ultimate Impact, the series finds Miles Morales bringing Origin Boxes, aka boxes with powers, back to the Marvel Universe, and the folks who end up using them. Weird to have the impact before the Ultimate Universe is done impacting, but I do not manage Marvel’s production schedule.
9. Ultimates #24

Release Date: May 27, 2026
The final issues of one of the best titles in the line hits this month, and I’ll be sad to see it go. Hate watching it leave, too!
10. Doomquest #1

Release Date: May 27, 2026
Are you suffering from Doom Fatigue? If so, take 10 issues of Ryan North writing an evergreen Doctor Doom traveling through time series, and call me in, well, 10 months.
11. Wiccan & Hulking: Raid Of Ultron #1

Release Date: May 27, 2026
Wyatt Kennedy, who just finished up the excellent Wiccan: Witches’ Road, writes a framing story for this year’s Pride social that brings together the extended Vision/Wanda/etc family.
