Normally when you hear a comic book has NSFW covers, you think, “oh, it’s a superhero character, but real sexy like.” Well, not so with Image Comics‘ Regicide, which has at least one of the most gruesome, mentally scarring NSFW covers you’ll see all week (though to be fair, maybe you work with Clive Barker, I don’t know what your deal is).
Written by Patrick Kindlon with art by Ludovic Lalliat the dark fantasy series takes place in Transylvania, as, per PR, “a farmhand lives a simple life until village elders insist he set out for the capital with a dangerous stranger. Their mission? Kill the murderous viceroy of Transylvania!”
Also there’s some sort of naked snake lady with multiple breasts and vaginas, I guess. They didn’t mention that in the blurb, though.
“Ludovic and I are going for it on this one,” said Kindlon via press release. “True monster-of-the-issue storytelling where you are guaranteed sensational and sensual battles for the souls of our heroes every month! Violence you can feel in a world so dripping with evil the droplets will hit your head as you read! It’s submit to the Impaler or die on a pike!”
Regicide #1 hits stores on August 12 with covers by Lalliat, Atomcyber, Kerbcrawlerghost, and a blank sketch variant where you can get someone to draw something even more f**ked up, though I don’t think that’s possible.
