Invincible Season 4 wrapped up today with “Don’t Leave Me Hanging,” and unfortunate news: it left me hanging. Spoilers past this point, but the finale not only ended with Invincible (Steven Yuen) essentially losing to Thragg (Lee Pace) as the Viltrumites are now hiding on Earth in order to breed, but Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) was ordered to release the Scourge virus to kill all Viltrumites… And possibly all humans in the process. It’s gonna be a long wait until Invincible Season 5, so when will it premiere? When does the next season of Invincible come out on Prime Video?
I’m gonna get this out of the way: we don’t know! But that doesn’t mean we have no idea. While Prime Video has yet to announce an Invincible Season 5 premiere date as of this writing, we can make a pretty educated guess about this one. But first.
Has Invincible Been Renewed For Season 5 Or Canceled?
Feels like I already answered this, but okay: Invincible has been renewed for Season 5. In fact, early reports indicated it was renewed for Seasons 4 and 5 back in April of 2024, though those reports were denied. It was officially renewed for Season 5 in July of 2025.
When Will Invincible Season 5 Premiere On Prime Video? When Will The Next Season Of Invincible Come Out?
So, here’s the thing: it takes about two years to produce and finish a season of animated television. There are exceptions, and it isn’t exactly 24 months. But it’s a good rule of thumb when you’re prognosticating about release dates. That’s part of the reason Season 1 came out in 2021, but Season 2 didn’t hit until 2023: if you don’t renew an animated series early, it usually does not come out on an annual basis.
That’s why they renewed the show for Season 2 and 3 after Season 1, so they could get back on track, and why both Season 4 and 5 were renewed two years before their prospective release dates. Given that, and with work on Season 5 likely beginning before that official renewal date, we’d expect Invincible Season 5 to come out early next year — likely February or March, as with the majority of the seasons of the show so far. In fact, a March 2027 premiere date for Invincible Season 5 is the likeliest suspect, so stay tuned.
Will Invincible Get Renewed For Season 6? How Many Seasons Will The Series Run?
Invincible has been popping up on Nielsen’s independent charts of streaming originals, which is always a good sign (and a better indicator than Prime Video’s nonsense rankings on site). Going by previous patterns, it’s entirely likely Prime Video will announce the show has been renewed for Season 6 in July of 2026 (and has likely already renewed it, just not announced the fact).
That said, how many seasons could Invincible run? Each season adapts approximately 20 issues of the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. To get more precise, Invincible Season 4 ends where Invincible #78 ends (and includes some of #79, as well). There are 144 issues of invincible total, though that doesn’t count the many spinoff series; or the fact that the show has started producing original material, like this season’s “Hurm.”
You can probably do this math, but they’re about halfway through — so could jam the show into seven seasons, though more likely eight. Robert Kirkman has teased they could do nine, but that likely depends on Amazon’s appetite for more, as well as how slavishly they’re adapting the material. As is, they would not be able to effectively jam the final 66 issues of the comic into Season 5, so fingers crossed the show has been soft picked up for at least two more seasons.
What Will Invincible Season 5 Be About? Here’s What Happens In The Comics:
I’m not going to beat by beat the next 20 issues of Invincible, but I will break down the big events that may pop up next season. And spoilers past this point, again.
One of the next big events is Dinosaurus — remember that guy? — attacks and destroys Las Vegas. Seriously, all of it, turning it into glass, something that continues to have a big fallout throughout the series… Including on the return of Powerplex, and the reveal that DA Sinclair has been making Reanimen out of the alternate universe Marks.
Meanwhile, Rex/Robot and Monster Girl do manage to escape from the Flaxan dimension, though things did not quite go as one might expect; and also, they’re older because time passes differently there. And speaking of things not going how they expect, while Oliver gets better, Nolan and Debbie get even better, hooking up and getting back together.
Not everything is great, though: Allen goes with Thaedus’s plan, turning Nolan into public enemy number one, and putting Mark is real danger (as well as the rest of humanity). Basically, the Coalition is now on one side, Mark on the other, and even Thragg is making deals… Until the Scourge virus gets released, impacting Mark first.
With Mark down and out, Bulletproof takes over as the new Invincible for a bit, there’s more stuff with Dinosaurus and Thragg, and Mark discovers he has become quite Vincible.
It’s a pretty bad time for that as the Flaxans attack, while we find out just what happened to Monster Girl and Rex in their dimension. This time, the green dudes attack the whole world, and the reason is even more surprising: the new emperor is Monster Girl’s son.
This is all leading up to an arc that rounds out the first 100 issues titled “The Death of Everyone,” and — I said spoilers, right? — that includes Mark. Dinosaurus kills Mark. Seriously.
Okay, not totally seriously, there are some twists and turns, and it all ends with a big surprise for Mark and Eve’s relationship. But hey, you’ll find out all about that next year on Invincible.

Season 4 of Invincible will premiere on Prime Video on Wednesday, March 18 at 3 am ET / 12 am PT with three new episodes. New episodes will then roll out one a week until the season finale on April 22, 2026.
