‘Invincible’ Voice Cast: Who’s Who In Season 4, Episode 7, Including Emperor Argall

Invincible‘s Viltrumite War continues with devastating results this week. Wondering who’s who in the voice cast for Season 4, Episode 7 “Don’t Do Anything Rash,” including the wildly amazing casting for Emperor Argall? Read on.

Before we get there, though, a brief recap for context, and spoilers past this point (though you can get a longer Season 4, Episode 7 recap on our podcast). Right at the top of the episode, we get a surprise that never happened in the comics (as far as I’m aware) by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley: a flashback to how Thaedus and Emperor Argall fell out. Specifically, Thaedus, thanks to the time he spent out in the galaxy, was preaching compassion; Argall was commanding dominance.

In the middle? Thragg, who knew that Thaedus was going to be a problem, yet held back from killing him… Only for Thaedus to kill Argall. With Argall dead and Thaedus fled, Thragg took over as Grand Regent, looking for Argall’s heir. In the meantime, he ordered a cull of the weak and traitorous on Viltrum, ultimately letting only the strong survive.

Back in the present, Thaedus explains all of that to the resistance, and they prepare to head to Viltrum to sneak attack Thragg and stop this war, once and for all. While they prep, Thaedus tells Nolan they need to eradicate their species, though Nolan isn’t too sure. Oliver finally hugs his dad (uhoh), and Allen and Zoe share some snacks with faces that scream.

As the heroes approach the ring of dead bodies around Viltrum, which we discover are there as a reminder of the Viltrumites’ failure, it turns out Thragg is extremely ready for them. I won’t beat for beat the bonkers fight that follows, but short version is while the gang is able to take out at least 10 of the Viltrumites, in the process Oliver gets his jaw and arm ripped off while taking on Thragg solo.

Before that, Thragg and Nolan have an extremely “join us on the Dark Side” talk down on Viltrum, which Nolan seems to be considering… Until Thragg punches him into space, and he sees Oliver’s seemingly dead body. Furious, Nolan gets Space Racer to shoot a bolt of energy toward Viltrum, and Nolan, Mark, and Thaedus fly through the planet causing it to explode — and taking away the one thing Thragg cares about.

In response, Thragg tears off Thaedus’s head and crushes it, punches a hole straight through Nolan, and pokes Mark’s eyes out. With the heroes defeated, Thragg says, “We are too few already,” and flies away. Some time later, Nolan and Mark are found floating in space. And weeks after that, they’re almost fully healed, as is Oliver (who is in a bacta tank). Allen is now leader of the Council, and everyone is worried because the Viltrumites have disappeared… Which is when Mark realizes what happened: “They’ve gone to Earth.”

Invincible Season 4, Episode 7 “Don’t Do Anything Rash” Cast: Who’s Who In The Voice Cast?

As usual we won’t recap the main cast, who you likely know already from previous rundowns. So let’s start with our guest stars.

First, the biggie: in a huge surprise, not only does Emperor Argall show up, he’s voiced by FRANK WELKER, THE VOICE OF MEGATRON. Sorry to shout, but having frickin’ Megatron preach dominance while Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime — and on this show, Thaedus — voice peace and compassion is just really flippin’ cool. Beyond Megatron in various cartoons and films, the 80-year-old voice actor is also known for Fred Jones on Scooby-Doo, the scoob himself in later cartoons, and Garfield.

Pretty much everyone else has been heard on the show before. But to recap some big ones, Levar Burton of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Reading Rainbow returns as the voice of Tech Jacket’s Suit AI. Tech Jacket, aka Zoe, is voiced by Set It Up star Zoey Deutch. Battle Beast is also a TNG alum: Michael Dorn, aka Worf. And Space Racer is voiced by M’Baku of the MCU, Winston Duke.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a surprise return in the flashback section as Conquest, as he died a few episodes back. You likely know him as Negan from The Walking Dead, or as John Winchester on Supernatural. Orphan Black and She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany also returns as Allen’s girlfriend Telia. Lee Pace, from Pushing Daisies and Foundation is once again the voice of the big bad Grand Regent Thragg. The Boys and One Tree Hill star Shantel Vansanten is Anissa. And Seth Rogen is of course the voice of Allen.

But come on: Frank Welker? What the heck???
