Dynamite got into the compact comics game with a collected edition of Pathfinder, which at the time I found a little curious. Nothing against the book, but whither Dynamite’s more top tier properties? Well, ask and ye shall receive, as the publisher has announced the next affordable volume is Red Sonja: She-Devil With a Sword Compact Edition Volume 1.
Starting with 2005’s Red Sonja #0, the book will contain 200 pages of comics for $9.99, and measure 5.5″ x 8.5″. It’ll include stories by Michael Avon Oeming and Mike Carey, alongside art by Mel Rubi and colors by Richard Isanove.
Based on the release, Dynamite will possibly continue the Compact Editions with further volumes featuring — deep breath — Brian Reed, Walter Geovani, Eric Trautmann, Luke Lieberman, Joshua Ortega, Frank Cho, Arvid Nelson, Gail Simone, Marguerite Bennett, Aneke, Amy Chu, Carlos Gomez, Erik Burnham, Mark Russell, Mirko Colak, Mirka Andolfo, Giuseppe Cafaro, Torunn Grønbekk, Christopher Priest, “and so many more.” Though that’s unannounced at this time.
While Dynamite says comic book stores have this solicited in May for a July release date, brick and mortar booksellers have the release date set as September 8, 2026. Check out the cover and a few interior pages below.
