Pretty much since The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke started talking about the fifth and final season of The Boys, he’s been open about how there will be big character deaths starting from the first episode. And he wasn’t lying, as from the Season 5 premiere on, the wrap-up to the blockbuster superhero series has been a total bloodbath.
I want to be very clear: there are massive, MASSIVE spoilers below for who dies in The Boys Season 5, including the season premiere, the second episode (two were streamed on premiere day) and beyond. If you want a full accounting of who has gone to the great Vought Corporation in the sky, we’ve got you covered.
In fact, given the Grand Guignol we’re expecting on this season, I’m not just going to break down all the big character deaths for the first two episodes, but we’ll also update this week to week as more and more cast members are taken off the board. So check out the complete list of massive character deaths below (we’ll skip nameless soldiers, because who cares, sorry guys). And check back weekly to see which Supes have kicked the bucket, because chances are? Nobody is making it out alive.

Who Dies On The Boys Season 5, Episode 1 “Fifteen Inches Of Sheer Dynamite“?
We’re gonna get to the big character death in a second, but earlier on there’s a shocker when Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) seemingly kills his own father, Sam (John Noble). Sam’s not a great guy, but even this is Butcher taking things pretty far. The reason? Basically that it’ll feel good, though between seasons, Butcher’s mom died, and it’s clear Billy blames his dead. We don’t get to see the death, but you do hear Butcher’s cancerous Compound V powered tentacles squirming as he holds hid father in a death grip.
Another relatively minor character kicks the bucket, as Hughie’s (Jack Quaid) friend Ivy (Jessica B. Hill) from the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs, previously seen in two episodes in Season 3, gets lazered through the head by Homelander. And Gavin, the stage manager (Iain Stewart) who helps Starlight play footage of Flight 37 at the Vought shareholders meeting, gets decapitated by Homelander.
The big one, though? A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), who dies after finally stepping up and heroically — and selflessly — saving everyone during a battle at one of Homelander’s (Antony Starr) internment camps. After five seasons of blaming everyone else for his problems and running away (literally and figuratively) from responsibility, A-Train saves the day. He even leads Homelander away from the fray, and unlike in Season 1 when he ran right through Hughie’s (Jack Quaid) girlfriend, he avoids pulverizing a woman… And trips. Injured, he taunts Homelander, who beats A-Train and then snaps his neck, killing him.
There’s one more big death that happens this episode: Love Sausage (Derek Johns), the guy who is able to control his enormous, prehensile member, is choked to death with his own penis by Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso). RIP (Rest In Penis).
Who Dies On The Boys Season 5, Episode 2, “Teenage Kix“?
Okay, let’s start with a big character death that does not happen: Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). The Captain America a-hole seems to be killed by a juiced up version of the Supe virus. But by episode’s end, he sits straight up in a body bag. Whether he’s dead for real, alive and well, or a zombie version of Soldier Boy, we’ll have to wait until next week to find out. But the reports of the Supe virus’s effectiveness have been greatly exaggerated.
This second episode also killed most of the new TikTok influencer team, Teenage Kix. That includes Jetstreak (Dylan Colton), who is actually killed by the Supe virus, as is living cum-lava mountain, Rock Hard (Andrew Iles). Though given Soldier Boy seems okay, maybe they’re okay, too? Or more likely Soldier Boy having an infusion of V-One, the original, stronger version of Compound V, means he’s resistant to the virus, where other Supes may not be.
Who Dies On The Boys Season 5, Episode 3, “Every One of You Sons of Bitches“?
As noted, I’m not going to run down every nameless Russian soldier that Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) kills at the beginning of the episode; but he does slaughter an entire squad, so there is that. And speaking of which, though he is beaten to a bloody pulp by Homelander, Ryan is not dead on The Boys.
So who did die? First, to back up something from Episode 1, we get confirmation that Butcher killed his dad Sam and left him “at the bottom of the Thames.”
But second, two smaller characters definitely kick the bucket in this episode… After discovering that Hughie killed his dad, Translucent (Alex Hascell), back in Season 1, Maverick (Nicholas Hamilton) attacks Hughie. Only problem, Maverick is invisible, so when Cindy (Ess Hödlmoser) goes to kill Hughie, she makes Maverick explode, instead. Annie sees this happening, thinks Cindy has killed Hughie, and distraught, snaps Cindy’s neck.
So RIP Maverick and Cindy. Maybe not the biggest deaths ever, but proof that the show is really clearing house before wrapping things up.
Who Dies On The Boys Season 5, Episode 4, “King Of Hell“?
Curiously, this was a mostly death free episode. Or at least, 95% of the deaths happened before this ep, as there are dead bodies littered all over Fort Harmony. The only “name” character who kicks the bucket is Quinn (Kris Hagen), a former friend of Soldier Boy who has been infected by spores from V1. Unaffacted, Frenchie (Tomer Capone) tricks Soldier Boy into using his Compound V frying powers, and jumps out the way so SB crisps up Quinn instead. But that’s pretty much it!
Who Dies On The Boys Season 5, Episode 5, “One-Shots“?
Oh boy, where to start? After last week was mostly death-free, this week’s episode is a bloodbath. Let’s work our way backwards starting with the shocking, episode-ending death: Firecracker (Valorie Curry) is killed by Homelander, impaled sideways on an eagle statue after forsaking her old church and declaring eternal devotion to him. The reason he kills her? Not because she was shtupping Soldier Boy, but because she was showing doubts about Homelander as lord and savior. Now there’s a truthbomb.
Also dead in this episode? Director to the stars Adam Bourke (PJ Byrne), who has an eel crawl up his butt in the toilet after The Deep discovers that Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) is doing a play with him called
Vivant: The Bee Gees Story. After directing Dawn of the Seven, falling from grace, teaching acting at Godolkin University, and more humiliating career turns than you can count, Bourke at least was able to deliver some beautiful, final dying words to Black Noir: “My ass hurts so fucking much.”
You thought we were done there? Why, we are certainly not. Two major deaths does not a bloodbath make. Soldier Boy and Homelander head to LA to try and track down Bombsight (Mason Dye), and meet up at Mr. Marathon’s (Jared Padalecki) house. There, a veritable array of stars are playing poker including Seth Rogen, Will Forte, Kumail Nanjiani, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
Over the course of the tense visit, well, they all die. Mr. Marathon, hepped up on drugs and aching to kill Homelander, ends up running through each one of them, exploding them into bloody chunks. The last one is Rogen, who gets cut in half after Soldier Boy throws him at Mr. Marathon, dying as his entrails spew out on the floor. Mr. Marathon snaps his neck, putting Rogen out of his misery. We’ll miss you, American Pickle. As a bonus, Craig Robinson was using the bathroom, and he also dies.
But wait, there’s more! Alongside Mr. Marathon is Malchemical (Misha Collins), finishing off our Supernatural reunion trio. The latter gets killed almost immediately, with Soldier Boy snapping Malchemical’s neck after he and Mr. Marathon confess they want him to kill his own son (that would be Homelander) to bring back porn and abortions. Then Soldier Boy sets a trap for Mr. Marathon in his Nazi and Supe memorabilia vault, spreading baby oil everywhere so Marathon slips and breaks his leg. Trapped on the floor and unable to run, Mr. Marathon confesses he doesn’t know where Bombsight is, so Homelander steps on his face, killing him instantly. Carry on, my wayward sons.
And that’s it, not even counting Bill Hader and Channing Tatum, who either died offscreen or were thrown into prison, or both. Whew!
Who Dies On The Boys Season 5, Episode 6, “Though The Heavens Fall“?
Other than a random VMC Cinemas worker, there’s really only one big death in this week’s episode of The Boys: Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). After tampering with an oil pipeline that leads to the death of 1.4 billion fish, The Deep goes nuts and strangles Noir with a mic cord in their podcast studio. He then stabs the Supe through the chin, dropping him to the table and letting him bleed out. So, RIP, Black Noir 2. Hope you’re getting that Broadway run in Heaven.
Who Dies On The Boys Season 5, Episode 7, “The Frenchman, The Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk”?
This week is a big one with multiple deaths, but we have to start off with the Frenchman himself: Frenchie has died on The Boys, as of the closing moments of the episode. But don’t worry, he went out a hero. After figuring out how to juice Kimiko up with Soldier Boy’s Compound V frying powers, Homelander arrived at their schoolyard hideout. Frenchie hid Sister Sage and Kimiko, promising to find a place to hide himself. Instead, he lured Homelander to the uranium chamber, irradiated himself and Homelander, and then the Supe… Lasered him a little bit and flew off, maybe? Not clear. Regardless, Frenchie died of the radiation as well as whatever Homelander did to him, in Kimiko’s arms.
Other big deaths this episode include President Steven Calhoun (David Andrews) who had his head crushed by Homelander, and Dogknott (Zach McGowan) and Sheline (Emma Elle Paterson). The latter were killed in different ways during a fight with Annie and Mother’s Milk, with Annie throwing Dogknott into a wall, and Sheline getting stabbed with, er, something by MM. Whatever was in the syringe he put into her, she dies on the floor of a screening room, spit bubbling out of her mouth.
Oh, and also a good portion of a focus group gets killed by Dogknott and Sheline, though we said up top we wouldn’t spend too much time on randos, so who cares, randos!
Who Dies On The Boys Season 5, Episode 8, “Blood and Bone”?
As promised, this week’s series finale goes scorched Earth, with multiple big deaths. The biggest? Homelander, who is killed by Butcher in the Oval Office after being turned human by Kimiko’s uranium blast. He sobs, begs, offers to suck Butcher’s dick and eat his shit. But ultimately, Butcher just wants justice for his wife, Becca, and pushes a crowbar through Homelander’s head, prying off the top and spilling his brains everywhere. Yuck!
The other big death? Butcher, who is shot by Hughie while he’s in Vought Tower, aiming to release the Supe virus. While Butcher thinks better of it, it’s too late, and Hughie shoots him, holding Butcher’s hand as he dies. Side-Note: Butcher decides to release the virus after Terror dies, likely of old age.
Also dead is The Deep, who is killed after a big fight with Annie throws him in the water, usually his safe spot. But after the fish holocaust he caused, he’s impaled through the head by an octopus (who is also seeking justice for the slain Ambrosius last season), his jaw ripped off.
Oh Father also dies during a big White House fight with Hughie and Mother’s Milk, with the latter throwing a ball gag on the preacher just as he unleashes his sonic scream, blowing up his own head.
And last and least, Gunter Van Ellis (Ivan Sherry) the show’s parody of Elon Musk, dies after Homelander takes him into space and leaves him there.
