April feels like one of those liminal months you always hear about for DC Comics. No? You don’t hear about that? Well, alright, then, but regardless from so light weeks to a jam-packed final week, there’s both a lot and a little going on in DC Comics for April 2026.
That does include more Next Level titles, plenty of Absolute Universe titles, and even a few weird one-off and specials. Looking for some highlights? We’re counting down our 11 most anticipated DC Comics issues of April 2026, presented in chronological release order.
1. MAD About DC #1

Release Date: April 1, 2026
Chip Zdarsky edits this massive collection of gag strips and weird riffs from a murderer’s row of comic book writers and artists who may get murdered once this is released.
2. Bizarro: Year None #1

Release Date: April 1, 2026
DC is playing down this aspect of the project, but back in the day Kevin Smith and Eric Carrasco were working on an origin story for Bizarro to play in anthology series on the late, lamented DC Universe streaming service. Well, now it’s back in comic book form, and Nick Pitarra is the artist so that’s pretty neat.
3. Absolute Superman #18

Release Date: April 1, 2026
Absolute Superman is now in its cameo era, picking up the Hawkman arc and introducing King Shazam (who seems to be Black Adam). Hey, bring it on, this book is fun.
4. The Fury of Firestorm #1

Release Date: April 8, 2026
Jeff Lemire and Rafael de Latorre team up for a new take on Firestorm that maybe turns him into a villain? I have no idea, but with a team this good I’m eager to find out.
5. Absolute Batman #19

Release Date: April 15, 2026
The biggest title currently running in comics continues with the introduction of Scarecrow — and is Joker the guy behind the Robins?
6. Absolute Flash #14

Release Date: April 15, 2026
Back in 2025, DC’s Free Comic Book Day special revealed the Mirror Masters of two universes have been working with each other. Well, we’ve finally got the Absolute Mirror Master in play in this issue, so my anticipation is high we’ll move the uber-story forward. Will we? Maybe!
7. Absolute Wonder Woman #19

Release Date: April 22, 2026
The best title running in the all-around pretty great Absolute Universe, this issue promises that “ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!” Bold! Intriguing!
8. Zatanna #1

Release Date: April 29, 2026
After a stellar and sumptuously illustrated miniseries, Jamal Campbell is back, writing and illustrating this ongoing series. Emosewa!
9. Batman / Wonder Woman: Truth #1

Release Date: April 29, 2026
Here’s an odd one for you! A story by Allan Heinberg, with art by Jim Cheung, aka the team that created the Young Avengers? Pretty awesome. The story is also by Jeph Loeb, who writes, and it’s an epilogue to Batman: Hush? To be clear, not H2SH, which isn’t finishing until May 27, but the first one? Huh! Weird! Okay.
10. Swamp Thing 1989 #1

Release Date: April 29, 2026
After over three decades, Rick Veitch’s lost final arc of Swamp Thing is getting released by DC Comics. If you want to know more, we talked to Veitch all about it on our podcast, as well as what to expect as Swampie meets Jesus, and goes back to explore the origin of the DC Universe.
11. Justice League Intergalactic Special #1

Release Date: April 29, 2026
Jadzia Axelrod and Nicole Maines explore two sides of the Justice League, as Galaxy joins and Dreamer is on the outs. Better news? The story will continue throughout June with a weekly Dream Girls miniseries.
