While you won’t get to see Jon Bernthal reprise his role as The Punisher, aka Frank Castle, in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, you also won’t have to wait until he pops up on the big screen in Spider-Man: Brand New Day to get your Frank fix. Marvel has just announced that the “Special Presentation” one-shot episode now titled The Punisher: One Last Kill will hit Disney+, the home of fun family fare like The Punisher, on May 12.
Along with a poster teasing a grizzled, bearded, bruised and beaten Punisher, Marvel also revealed the brief synopsis for the special episode:
As Frank Castle searches for meaning beyond revenge, an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.
Cool! Other than that, we don’t know much… Bernthal is the only officially revealed member of the cast, so maybe it’s a one-man show. The special is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who co-wrote the episode with Bernthal. And the rest of the revealed roster is your Marvel regulars. It’s Executive Produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Sana Amanat, Bernthal, and Green, Co-Executive Produced by Trevor Watson, and Supervising Producer is Eleena Khamedoost.
Want other details? Nothing else has been officially announced, but reportedly Jason R. Moore co-stars as a former Navy friend of Castle’s named Curtis Hoyle, while Roe Rancell is Dennis, Mila Jaymes is Charli, and this is expected to loosely adapt the horrifying Ma Gnucci story by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.
