This is Comic Book Club News for March 20, 2026.
Spawn Universe Reveals New Creative Teams:
Time to set that Countdown Clock back to zero, as the Spawn Universe titles are playing switcheroo with the creative titles, once again. Alongside mastermind Todd McFarlane, the new roster on the Image Comics line includes Matthew Rosenberg, Erica Schultz, and more.
Rosenberg will be taking over both Spawn with issue #376, alongside artist Stephen Segovia, and King Spawn with issue #55, alongside artist Thomas Nalchlik. Both titles will tie together as Spawn vanishes, Al Simmons is human, and the world knows Heaven and Hell are real and have abandoned Earth. Meanwhile a cabal of angels, demons, and supernatural creatures called The 400 emerge, beginning the countdown to — what else — Spawn #400.
In addition, Schultz moves from Rat City to Gunslinger Spawn with issue #54, alongside artist Carlo Barberi. And Thomas Healy will write The Scorched with issue #51, co-plotting with McFarlane, alongside artist Alessandro Vitti. All titles are meant to be new reader friendly jumping on points.
The titles will beginning hitting stores at the end of May, with Spawn #376 in stores on June 3, 2026.
That Texas Blood Returns From Image Comics:
Writer Chris Condon and artist Jacob Phillips have been busy beavers the past few months (and years), but they’re back on the title that made their names: That Texas Blood returns for issue #21 this June from Image Comics.
In the new arc, per PR, “Sheriff Joe Bob Coates and Deputy Wilson Hart are called to the Allison Ranch—the largest and richest ranch in the United States—where family grievances are blooming into full-blown war.” And not only will the new issue sport multiple covers, Image will also release a facsimile edition of the first issue of the title on deluxe newsprint, so you can get your fingers all smudged up like we did back when comics were good harumph harumph I’m old.
The new arc is set in 2003, and Phillips teases that the arc, titled “Hell Comes to Allison Ranch,” is about “A heist gone wrong on the biggest ranch in the US on the night of the invasion of Iraq. This story is the perfect jumping on point for new readers and a warm welcome back for the regulars. So slip on your favourite pair of jeans, grab a can of Doyers and settle in. It’s gonna be one hell of a ride.”
That Texas Blood #21 hits stores on June 3, 2026.
Wolverine’s Claws Break In Upcoming Marvel Comics Issues:
Looks like the WOKE MOB got another one, as cancel culture has come for the X-Men’s most popular mutant, Wolverine. Go woke, get BROKE CLAWS, I always say… Okay, I can’t keep this up, it’s making me feel gross. Anyway, Wolverine’s claws break in Wolverine #21 and #22, is my point.
In the upcoming issues of the Marvel book by Saladin Ahmed and Julius Ohta, the man who has previously had Hot Claws and Bone Claws will now sport Broke Claws when they get shattered. How does this happen? We don’t know, but we do know that his “adamantium claws shattered, their bones SNAPPED down to nubs.” Nubs! NUBS! It’s a Star Wars crossover!!
Along with the pretty funny tagline “Snapt” Marvel teases that as well as Broke Claws, Wolverine may also be losing his mutant status once he’s done with a mysterious trial. You can find out more when the issues debut on June 10 and 24, 2026.
