Grendel continues at Dark Horse.

This is Comic Book Club News for March 19, 2026.

Something Is Killing The Children Gets A Novel:

Something is novelizing the children! Written by James Tynion IV and Kiersten White, the hit BOOM! Studios series Something is Killing the Children will get an original novel spinoff, Hope is a Knife.

Focusing on Erica Slaughter a year before the events of the comic book series, the book finds her arriving in Badwater, Idaho, where she has to figure out whether the death of a 12-year-old was caused by a bear, a person, or more likely, a monster. And while that’s going on, a doomsday preacher has the small town on the edge of hysteria.

Hope is a Knife hits stores on October 13, 2026.

DC Announces Summer of Supergirl Special:

DC Comics has already announced a slew of plans for the “Summer of Supergirl,” an event that totally coincidentally happens the same time we’re getting a brand-new Supergirl movie. And now we know about even MORE plans with the Summer of Supergirl Special #1.

The 48-page one-shot will feature a series of stories from comic book superstars, including a lead by current Supergirl writer Sophie Campbell, and artist Belén Ortega. In the issue — again, total coincidence since he appears in the movie — Supergirl stands up against Lobo, the Main Man.

Beyond the main story, there’s also two back-ups, one by Mark Waid and Cian Tormey, the other by Gail Simone and Emma Kubert. And not only that, it’ll feature multiple covers, with a main one by Ortega, and variants by Tula Lotay, Pablo Villalobos, and a movie variant by Mahmud Asrar.

Summer of Supergirl Special #1 hits stores on June 24.

Matt Wagner’s Grendel Continues At Dark Horse:

The Devil will continue to get his due as Comic Book Club exclusively announced Dark Horse and Matt Wagner’s Grendel will continue with Grendel: Devil’s Crucible – Sedition, a new four-issue miniseries.

Following up directly on the events of Grendel: Devil’s Crucible – Defiance, Wagner’s four-part story-arc (that would be Devil’s Crucible) continues with Grendel Prime teaming up with a clone of the warrior Christine Spar.

Said Wagner, “For years, readers have begged me to return to the character of Christine Spar but, due to the tightly choreographed nature of DEVIL’S LEGACY, her initial storyline, there just wasn’t any room to fit in any more adventures. But I finally hit on the perfect way to cast Christine…now known as X-tine…back into the role of Grendel and I’m happy to say that she’s just as fierce and fiery as she ever was.  Maybe even more so!  You won’t believe what fate has in store for her this time around.”

Grendel: Devil’s Crucible – Sedition #1 hits stores on July 25, 2026.
