X-Men ’97 Season 2 Gets A Prequel Comic From Marvel:
X-Men ’97 Season 2 is premiering sometime in 2026, likely soon-ish. But to help with the long wait, Marvel Comics will release X-Men ’97: Season Two, which is not adapting the second season of the series, but rather will bridge the gap between Seasons 1 and 2. Maybe should have been called Season One Point Five? I don’t know, I don’t work at Marvel.
While Disney+ hasn’t announced a premiere date for X-Men ’97 Season 2, we do know the comic — which will debut in June and run five issues — will pick up directly from the end of the first season and lead into the beginning of Season 2. Per the publisher, “Extinction-day has come and gone, and your favorite X-Men are lost in time! Spinning out of Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97 series, follow the X-Men left behind in a world that hunts and hates mutantkind! Can they survive? And just where – or when – are the X-Men now?! No X-Men ‘97 fan can miss this one!”
Whenever the new episodes come out, we know one thing for sure: X-Men ’97: Season Two #1 hits stores on June 3, 2026.
Two Fantagraphics Books Hit by Iranian Missile:
Two Fantagraphics books will have their release delayed indefinitely after, and I swear this is not a joke, they were hit by an Iranian missile.
The news was posted by Fantagraphics co-founder Mike Catron on Facebook, revealing that, “Fantagraphics Books learned today that a cargo vessel carrying the full print runs of two of our books was struck by an Iranian missile in or near the Strait of Hormuz. The report we have is that the ship has limped to a safe port, where we await further news. Our thoughts are with the crew, and we hope and pray for their safety.”
The two books impacted are The Atlas Comics Library No. 9: Adventures Into Weird Worlds Vol. 1 by Russ Heath, Bernard Krigstein, Bill Everett, Joe Maneely, and Carmine Infantino and Bitchy! The Exasperating Existence of Midge McCracken by Roberta Gregory and Helen Chazan. Both books were printed in India and headed for New York. While the publisher does not currently know the status of the books or the delivery, they definitely won’t make their June release date.
Two Comics Enter Smithsonian:
Two landmark comic books have entered the Smithsonian’s permanent collection: Action Comics #1, and Captain America Comics #1.
Featuring the debuts of Superman and Captain America respectively, both copies were donated by Brandon Beck, co-founder of Riot Games. Said Eric Jentsch, curator of popular culture and sports history, “This acquisition was one of the most gratifying of my career, not only as the comics are important pieces of our cultural history that should be preserved, but also because if you told me as a kid I would be working with these incredible collections I would have been psyched.”
Both comics will be part of the collection at the National Museum of American History.
