Top Shelf Announces We Are Pan, A New Graphic Novel:

Coming this June, Top Shelf Productions will release We Are Pan, the debut graphic novel from writer Andre Fratting, alongside art by Yasmin Flores Montanez. Set in the early 1960s at the beginning of the Castro regime, the book will also feature a foreword by Alex Segura.

The book focuses on the true story of Operación Pedro Pan, which was, per PR, “a joint effort between the U.S. government and the Catholic Welfare Bureau to evacuate 14,000 children from Cuba to the U.S. between 1960 and 1962. With the rise of communism following Fidel Castro’s revolution, parents feared for their children’s future and, through this secret operation, secured passage for them to America. These children (later referred to as “Pedro Pans”) would be distributed across the U.S., mostly living in foster homes. In many cases, these children never saw their families again, and their lives would be changed forever. This is their story.”

We Are Pan hits stores on June 2, 2026.

DC Colorist Tatjana Wood Dead At 99:

Legendary comics artist and colorist Tatjana Wood has died at age 99. The news was shared by former Vertigo editor Karen Berger on BlueSky.

Wrote Berger, “So sad to share that legendary colorist Tatjana Wood has passed away at the age of 99. Her pioneering painterly touch graced scores of DC & Vertigo series. She was truly one of a kind and a special friend. May her memory be a blessing.”

Wood is likely best known for her work on Saga of the Swamp Thing, as well as Animal Man, The Question, and many more. Her first professional work was in the 1950s at EC Comics, before moving over to DC in 1969. Wood has been retired since 2003, and will be missed.

David Nakayama Tackles White Covers For Marvel:

David Nakayama has been tackling Color Block Variants for Marvel starting with bold, eye-catching red. And now in April (and May), the artist is moving on to another color: white.

Now, before you say “hey white isn’t a color,” it actually is, both in painting and reality… Even though it maybe feels like a bit of a cheat as compared to the red of the previous month. Still, Scott McCloud is likely giddy at the thought of what could be happening just beyond the edges of those covers.

And also, while Marvel isn’t overplaying their hand here by calling it out, it’s clear this is a stealth 250th anniversary of America thing as after red and white, in June Nakayama will be tackling blue.
