Marvel artist Jacopo Camagni has died at age 48.
Jeff Lemire signs five book deal.
Gert takes over Image Comics.

Jacopo Camagni Dead At 48:
Jacopo Camagni, an Italian artist known for his work on Marvel Comics including the just-launched Generation X-23, has died at age 48.
Per Bleeding Cool, Camagni passed away due to complications with heart surgery. While Camagni was best known for his work with Marvel, he started as a professional penciller in 1998 on Lupin III, before moving to Marvel for most of his career. Recently, he worked on several volumes of the Scarlet Witch series, as well as Generation X-23, which just released its first issue last month.
Camagni also created his own series, Nomen Omen, with Marco B. Bucci, and contributed to multiple Pride anthologies, including Marvel’s 2021 Marvel Voices: Pride issue, a pride variant for 2021’s Star Wars Bounty Hunters #13 from Dark Horse, and even worked on a Dark Horse book titled The Pride, about LGBTQ+ heroes getting fed up that straight heroes get all the attention, also for Dark Horse.
Our thoughts are with his friends, family, and many admirers at this time.
Jeff Lemire Signs Five Book Adult Graphic Novel Deal:
Writer Jeff Lemire isn’t slowing down any time soon, as he’s signed a five-book deal with Harper Collins, through their Harper Alley imprint, for a new line of graphic novels for adults.
The news was announced via Lemire’s blog, where he broke down the deal further noting that it’ll kick off with a three volume supernatural detective series with artist Teddy Kristiansen titled Mr. Oblivion.
Per Lemire, “Mr. Oblivion follows Marty McCabe, who was once the world’s greatest occult detective, Mr. Oblivion, but now, twenty-years later, sells real estate in the suburbs and struggles with middle-age, marriage, and a teenaged daughter. But, when the demons of his past return (literally), Marty must once again put on the fabled Merlin Mask to save his family, even if it eats his soul alive.”
All three volumes will be 200 pages plus, written by Lemire and illustrated by Kristiensen, with the first volume, Incantations, hitting in Summer of 2027.
Beyond that is a little more secret, as Lemire will pen a stand-alone graphic novel illustrated by The Walking Dead‘s Charlie Adlard, and an additional one which Lemire is going to keep “a surprise for later.”
Not noted in Lemire’s newsletter but shared by Publishers Weekly, the two other launch titles for the line will be Vreeland, a memoir by The Cardboard Kingdom creator Chad Sell, and The ArchAndroid, co-created by Janelle Monáe, Chuck Lightning, and Chad Weatherford, based on Monáe’s album of the same name.
Gert From I Hate Fairyland Takes Over Image Comics:
I Hate Fairyland? More like, Gert hates Image Comics, as the star of Skottie Young’s hit series is destroying Image’s covers this April.
Following up on team-up variants for Spawn, Youngblood, and Invincible, the latest cover variant program is labeled “I Hate Team-Ups, and finds Young’s bloodthirsty Gert killing various characters. Not only that, but the covers will also have their titles redesigned to match I Hate Fairyland‘s, as she takes on everyone from the cats of Feral to new hit character D’orc and more.
