Goats Flying Press is always launching fascinating projects. So when GFP’s Sebastian Girner reached out to highlight their upcoming (at the time) Kickstarter for Texas Kid, My Brother, I was intrigued. And now that the campaign has launched, it’s time for you to get intrigued as well.
As Girner explained over email, “It’s one of the finest books by one of the best artists we’ve ever had, one who never got his due in the U.S. which is maddening, but here’s hoping we can do our small part to rectify that… It’s a gorgeous book, an inimitable piece of work, and a true comic.”
That’s all well and good, but what’s it about, man? What’s it all about?? Per the Kickstarter:
Adapted by Kordey from a short story by Darko Macan (Grendel Tales: Devils and Deaths, A Prayer to the Sun), Texas Kid, My Brother tells the tortured story of Radovan Brandt, a cartoonist bearing under the overpowering weight of his father’s legacy…Tomislav Brandt, the creator of the legendary Western comic strip The Texas Kid. Radovan has finally begun to step out from his father’s shadow, when suddenly the Texas Kid himself—the fictional comic strip character, and his father’s actual favorite son—knocks on his door and enters his life.
