Francesco Francavilla is probably best known for his work on Batman, Afterlife With Archie and frequent covers. But he also crafted a love letter to classic vigilante comics, which will now be collected by Dark Horse The Black Beetle Omnibus.
“I’m super excited to see all the adventures—published so far—of my baby, THE BLACK BEETLE, collected in one book,” said Francavilla via press release. ”It’s the perfect way to get to know (or rediscover for those who are already familiar with the books) my neo-noir hero and get excited for what comes next in the shadowy streets of Colt City!”
Written and illustrated by Francavilla, the omnibus will collect all the Black Beetle stories for the first time, as well as, per PR, “never-before-seen bonus content, including concept art, layouts, character studies, vintage-style lobby cards, behind-the-scenes material from Francavilla’s sketchbook, and a brand-new cover by Francavilla.”

In Kara Bocek, the masked American hero ventures to the Middle East incognito (as Tom Sawyer) to fight Nazis in pursuit of a mysterious object of terrible power—a weapon of unknown origin, older than the pyramids, which could fuel the Thousand-Year Reich of Hitler’s dreams.
Finally, in Night Shift, the Black Beetle is on the case when a powerful totem of magic shows up at Colt City Natural History Museum, prompting Hitler to send his fearsome Werewolf Korps to collect the piece.
