This is Comic Book Club News for February 25, 2026.
Ben Templesmith To Draw Department of Truth:
Ben Templesmith seems like such a perfect fit for The Department of Truth, it’s surprising he hasn’t popped up on the title before. And in fact, he will with issue #36.
Said writer James Tynion IV via press release, “Ben is actually one of the first-ever artists we dreamed of inviting to do a guest story arc of The Department of Truth way back when the series launched, so it’s thrilling to have him on this story that’s millions of years in the making. He’s been a natural fit for our messed-up little world and we can’t wait for readers to see what we’ve been building these last few months. Not only will we be digging up the buried history of one of the Department’s legacy families, we’ll also be revealing the evangelical origins of Charity, the deadliest new member of Lee’s crew. Also dinosaurs. Lots of dinosaurs.”
The Department of Truth #36 hits stores on March 25.
Aladdin Rides Back Into Comics From Dynamite:
I can show the world… Or at least, a brand-new comic book series from Dynamite based on the classic Disney movie Aladdin. Written by James III with art by Agnese Eterno, you’ll take a magic carpet ride with this one, I’ll tell you what.
In the new series set after the events of the movie, Aladdin is not yet married to Princess Jasmine, and he’s got Abu, the magic carpet and Genie by his side, as well. And that’s all we know! Good setup!
Covers for the first issue include J. Scott Campbell, Nicoletta Baldari, Natacha Bustos, a cartoon head by Eterno, and… Blind bags. They’ll include one of three limited editions of the issue, randomly selected.
Aladdin #1 hits stores in May.
Team Sonic Takes On Godzilla In New IDW Series:
Godzilla can’t stop, won’t stop as the King of the Monsters is continuing his tour of every franchise imaginable with Sonic x Godzilla from IDW.
Written by Nick Marino with art by Jack Lawrence, the book will find Godzilla ending up on Sonic’s world, with Dr. Eggman aiming to harness his power for evil. Standing in his way? Sonic, Amy, Tails, Knuckles and Shadow, who will try to send Godzilla back home.
Said Marino, “I’m fascinated by the scale of life, how we perceive lifeforms differently from bacteria to planet-wide ecosystems, from micro to macro. This particular character combination allows me to explore that in a fun way, and it’s been really satisfying. I hope our readers agree that the result is a cohesive mix of these two visual focuses– small speedsters and massive monsters– that delivers the best of both worlds!”
Sonic x Godzilla #1 hits stores this summer.
