‘2000 AD’ Returns To The Good Ol’ US Of A, Weekly, Thanks To Rebellion And Lunar

As just announced at ComicsPRO in Glendale, California, 2000 AD is coming back to the good ol’ US of A, now as a weekly magazine… And even better, it’ll arrive on our shores just two short weeks after it goes on sale in the good ol’ U of K. You know what, that doesn’t work as well (the U of K thing), gonna be honest with you.

Anyway, the news is thanks to Rebellion and Lunar Distribution, with copies being, per PR, “printed and distributed within the USA for the first time in 2000 AD’s forty-nine-year history, meaning that retailers can now order individual issues of 2000 AD for their store.”

In addition tot he flagship 2000 AD, Judge Dredd Magazine and seasonal specials including Action and The 2000 AD Sci-Fi Special will also be available through Lunar. Oh, and they’re no longer going to be polybagged. So there’s that.

If you’re not familiar, each 32-page anthology issue features five serialized stories (they said “serialised” in the press release, but you’re in our country now, son), including Judge Dredd, as well as a rotating cast including Strontium Dog, Halo Jones, Nemesis the Warlock, ABC Warriors and many more.

This news means that now 2000 ADthe Judge Dredd Megazine, and seasonal Special issues including Action and The 2000 AD Sci-Fi Special will all now be available to order directly through Lunar.

Per the release (or releaze? No, probably not), “This year will also see Judge Dredd caught up in a massive crossover ‘Mega-Epic’ storyline which crosses over between the weekly 2000 AD and the monthly Judge Dredd Megazine – which will also now be available in the US on a regular schedule through Lunar. As Judge Dredd enters ‘The Oubliette’ and witnesses ‘The Black Tower’, readers will be able to pick up both titles straight from their local comic store to ensure they get the full story as a hyper-blast of electrified Thrill-Power!”

Retailers can begin to order the weekly American printing of 2000 AD in March’s “Next Phase” from Lunar.
