January: weird month! Given the schedule for new comics, you’ve got four weeks of Wednesdays, but also a bunch of people waking up from food comas from the holidays. So it’s a lighter month than usual for Image Comics in January, 2026, but hey: we’ve still got 11 titles we’re very much looking forward to.
There’s the blockbuster Energon Universe from Skybound, of course, but there are also plenty more titles to anticipate throughout the first month of the year. So let’s get to our highlights, presented in chronological release order.
1. Transformers #28

Release Date: January 14, 2026
Robert Kirkman and Dan Mora have injected a bunch of high octane Energon juice into the ol’ universe with their run on Transformers. It’s been big, fun, and tonally different from what Daniel Warren Johnson brought to the title. This issue promises a decision from Arcee that will “shock every Transformers fan.” Maybe she prefers Go-Bots? I dunknow.
2. G.I. Joe #17

Release Date: January 14, 2026
This issue concludes the “Dreadnok War” storyline by Joshua Williamson and Tom Reilly, which has been an absolute blast, probably the best arc of this title so far. Of note, there are two issues of G.I. Joe released this month, with the second detailing a solo mission from Roadblock.
3. Exquisite Corpses #9

Release Date: January 21, 2026
This title, which details a bunch of vicious themed killers destroying a small town until only one is left, has been heating up both plot and sales-wise. This issue features guest turns by Tyler Boss and Valentine De Landro, alongside mainstays James Tynion IV and Michael Walsh. Great! I’m in.
4. Assorted Crisis Events #8

Release Date: January 21, 2026
Deniz Camp and Eric Zawadzki’s surreal time-ripper was one of Comic Book Club’s Best of 2025. Find out why with this new issue that finds a homeless comic book artist falling into the white space between panels.
5. Redcoat #16

Release Date: January 21, 2026
The best of the Ghost Machine books, this arc has found the immortal Simon Pure trying to have a normal life. It’s not going to work out, but it’ll be fun — and sad — to see how that happens.
6. The Power Fantasy #15

Release Date: January 21, 2026
No book on the stands does tension like The Power Fantasy. Last issue ended with the tease that things (as usual) were about to go to literal Hell for our superpowered main characters. Whether it’ll be a slow burn or an explosion? Find out this month.
7. The Sacrificers #19

Release Date: January 28, 2026
Rick Remender and guest artist André Lima Araújo wildly jumped decades forward in the previous issue of the book, recontextualizing our heroes as perhaps the new villains. As usual for Remender, a dark tragedy that doesn’t hold back on devastating moments.
8. Feral #20

Release Date: January 28, 2026
Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner’s Walking Dead but with cats title has been yowling like a kitty in heat the past several issues with an arc set inside the ostensible safehouse of a Pet City megastore. It all crashes down this issue, and I for one can’t wait to see how “everything changes.”
9. Bug Wars: The Spyder Wytch Special #1

Release Date: January 28, 2026
Jason Aaron and Mahmud Asrar’s Honey I Shrunk The Lord of the Rings title was a big breakout in 2025. So it’s great to see it back, albeit for a one-shot focusing on the spider witch of the title. Baldemar Rivas also joins on art for this one.
10. Wrestle Heist #2

Release Date: January 28, 2026
This title, written and drawn by Kyle Starks, is nuts. But not for the reason you might think… The main story, which finds a bunch of wrestlers wronged by a promoter deciding to rob him is as fast and funny as you’d expect from Starks. But it’s the back-matter, which features interviews about wrestling, fake ads, and more, that raises this to a “must pick up” every issue.
11. Malevolent #1

Release Date: January 28, 2026
Justin Jordan and John Bivens introduce a world overtaken by demons, and one demon hunter who may be worse than the demons themselves. Sounds cool!
