DC Comics has been on a hot streak in 2025, but can it continue in 2026? If the titles released in January are any indication: yes. Not only is the blockbuster Absolute Universe hitting on all cylinders, but you’ve got the DC K.O. event continuing — and plenty more to enjoy, as well.

Wondering what you should pick up from DC Comics in January 2026? Here are our 11 most anticipated comics, all presented in chronological release order.

1. Absolute Batman: Ark M Special #1

Absolute Batman: Ark M Special #1

Release Date: January 7, 2026

While not strictly an annual, the one-shots DC has been releasing through the Absolute Universe, which thus far include the Absolute Evil special and coming up an Absolute Wonder Woman annual, have had that special, exciting feel the oversized issues used to have back when I was a kid, you whippersnappers. This one comes from writers Scott Snyder and Frank Tieri, and artist Joshua Hixson, and delves into the origins of Ark M.

2. Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #6

Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #6

Release Date: January 7, 2026

This delightful heist series from Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott wraps up with issue #6, and I’ve got a feeling — and this is just a hunch — that Cheetah and Cheshire might rob the Justice League in this one.

3. 50th Anniversary Treasury Edition – Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man Facsimile Edition #1

50th Anniversary Treasury Edition – Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man Facsimile Edition #1

Release Date: January 7, 2026

I don’t normally blurb facsimile issues, but this one is just cool: the original Superman versus Spider-Man crossover, the one that basically kicked off the whole inter-company crossover deal, reprinted in pristine form before the new ones hit. Pretty sweet!

4. DC K.O. #3

DC KO #3 cover

Release Date: January 14, 2026

So far, this has been the rare comic book event that has actually felt like a capital “E” event, a wild, unpredictable ride that has shaken up expectations every issue. This one sends the Elite Eight to their own personal hell, so that should be psychologically interesting!

5. Wonder Woman: Black & Gold 2026 Special #1

Wonder Woman: Black & Gold 2026 Special #1 cover

Release Date: January 14, 2026

Get out of here, black, white and red. It’s time for new colors! This collection includes a lead story by Tom King and Mitch Gerads, as well as ones by Steve Orlando, Alyssa Wong and more.

6. Absolute Batman #16

Absolute Batman #16 cover

Release Date: January 21, 2026

The second part of a sort-of two-parter, Batman goes to hell and hangs out with Wonder Woman. The first part in Absolute Wonder Woman was pretty awesome, and it’ll be fascinating to see how Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta depict Diana.

7. Wonder Woman #29

Wonder Woman #29 cover

Release Date: January 21, 2026

While we’re very much fans of Tom King and Daniel Sampere’s run on Wonder Woman here, it’s still gonna be neat to have the team of Stephanie Williams and Jeff Spokes hop in for a two-parter as the Amazons try to babysit little Trinity.

8. DC K.O.: Green Lantern Galactic Slam #1

DC K.O.: Green Lantern Galactic Slam #1

Release Date: January 21, 2026

One of the things that’s been working about DC K.O. is that it’s… Fun? Weird, are comics supposed to be fun? Huh. Anyway, this one-shot by Jeremy Adams and Cian Tormey takes place sorta side to the main tournament as Kyle Rayner gets involved in an intergalactic wrestling match. Why not? Live a little!

9. Absolute Wonder Woman #16

Absolute Wonder Woman #16 cover

Release Date: January 28, 2026

Absolute Zatanna got a little tease a few issues back, but she arrives for real in this issue, and you can already feel the sparks flying. Can we say: detaeh yrlavir?

10. DC K.O.: The Kids Are All Fight Special #1

DC K.O.: The Kids Are All Fight Special #1 cover

Release Date: January 28, 2026

Did I mention I like fun? I do, and Jeremy Adams continues to have a good time with this one-shot, which follows Jon Kent trying to keep the peace with the younger members of the DCU while Earth gets turned into a war zone.

11. Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 #7

Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 #7

Release Date: January 28, 2026

This second series hasn’t quite hit the same way as the first one, but there’s been a feeling running through the previous issues that they’re holding back for the grand finale. Here’s hoping Brian Buccellato and Christian Duce pay off on that, because there are a lot of balls in the air heading into this issue.
