Lone Wolf And Cub Gets Deluxe Edition From Dark Horse:
Lone Wolf & Cub is getting the deluxe treatment from Dark Horse.
The classic manga will presented in two massive hardcover volumes which, while translated into English, will still be presented in the, per PR, “original right-to-left reading format, with original Japanese sound effects.”
If you’ve never read the book, it focuses on a former executioner whose wife is murdered, and his three-year-old son is left in his care. He decides to become a ronin, aka a masterless samurai, and travels feudal Japan on the road to vengeance.
It’s a classic that has inspired dozens if not hundreds of other stories. Both editions will run 720 pages each, with volume 1 hitting comic shops on December 10, 2025, and volume 2 on March 25, 2026.
Who Will Die In Ultimate Spider-Man?:
Hot on the heels of their September solicits, Marvel has already released advance looks at their October Ultimate Universe titles. And while there are plenty of intriguing notes like the potential return of the Ultimate Fantastic Four, by far the most interesting one is for Ultimate Spider-Man #22.
The only solicit text for that issue is “THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF CLASSIFIED!”
So… Who is gonna die? Spoilers for previous issues past this point, but given the title already had a fake-out death for Harry Osborn, he’s likely off the chopping block. The previous issue teases the “final meeting of the Sinister Six” so it’s entirely possible this could be a villain, such as Wilson Fisk.
But what about a swerve, a la the frequent wild twists in the title? Could Ben Parker finally kick the bucket? Or J. Jonah Jameson? Or perhaps Gwen Stacy, who is in a bit of hot water thanks to saving Harry’s life?
We’ll know more when Ultimate Spider-Man #22 hits stores on October 22.
Valiant Beyond Gets Ashcan At San Diego Comic-Con:
We’re mere weeks away from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which means the announcements will start coming fast and furious. So, here’s one: Valiant Beyond will get a free ashcan preview edition, limited to 2000 copies.
Per Bleeding Cool, the ashcan will be given out at the IDW booth, and feature advance looks at Bloodshot, Tales of the Shadowman, All-New Harbinger, and The X-O Manowar. All four of these titles are part of Valiant’s Ultimate-style reinvention, offering new takes on the characters set in their own, fresh continuity.
They’re also the first titles released in the new partnership between Alien Books, which distributes Valiant, and IDW, who will be publishing and promoting the books going forward. If you’re headed to San Diego and interested in checking it out, head to the IDW booth, #2729.
