The Disney+ Ironheart series is just around the corner, with the first three episodes releasing on June 24. It’ll follow Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), the titular hero, who returns home to find a new battleground in her own city of the Chicago. That’s a completely new development for her character, meaning even comic readers will have surprises in store.

As always, fans can expect to see many references and elements from their favorite comics. Ironheart is part of many fun stories, such as her books with the Champions or her role in helping Wakanda. She even goes up against a Doctor Doom turned into Iron Man in one of them, which is closer to her MCU than any of us would have thought at the time.

2. Champions (2016)

Champions #16

Writer: Jim Zub

Artist: Kevin Libranda

Ironheart gets her first team-up book, joining the Champions in issue #16, in a pretty fun story about the team enlisting new members. Thankfully, she goes on to become an important player there, as well as part of future rosters.

3. Infamous Iron Man

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis

Artist: Alex Maleev

Victor Von Doom as Iron Man? It’s one of those ideas that seem strange but unexpectedly works great. It’s a book that keeps you guessing until the end and has tons of good interactions, one of them being Doom and Ironheart discussing the Iron Man legacy.

4. Ironheart

Writer: Eve L. Ewing

Artist: Luciano Vecchio, Kevin Libranda

Eve L. Ewing gives us the best Ironheart story and shows why the character has unlimited potential. Her voice for Riri is perfect, encapsulating the girl’s confidence and the anxiety at being a teenage heroine. It’ll definitely leave you wanting more.

5. Champions (2019)

Writer: Jim Zub

Artist: Steven Cummings

The Champions go global and their roster expands quite a lot. It’s a cool change of pace seeing a bigger team attending to problems all over the globe.

6. Champions (2020)

Champions #2

Writer: Eve L. Ewing, Danny Lore

Artist: Simone Di Meo, Luciano Vecchio, Bob Quinn, Kim Jacinto

After a law is passed that prohibits teenage vigilantism, Riri stops being Ironheart. However, no hero ever gives up their mantle this easily, right? This time, the Champions can’t just punch their way out of the situation, but that won’t stop them.

7. Ironheart: Bad Chemistry

Writer: John Jennings

Artist: Jethro Morales

Ironheart’s latest solo story in forever follows her going up against Khem, one of her most compelling villains. It’s a shame Bad Chemistry is a one-shot, but at least it’s a fun and easy read, even for new fans.
