This is Comic Book Club News, for June 13, 2025.

Marvel’s Imperial Gets Two More One-Shots:

Marvel’s Imperial is expanding again, with two new one-shots focusing on Professor X and Lilandra, and Nova: Imperial War: Exiles, and Imperial War: Nova – Centurion.

Spinning out of the four-issue series written by Jonathan Hickman, these new one-shots join the She-Hulk and Black Panther one-shots that were previously announced for August. The new ones will hit one month later, in September. And of note, Marvel has already announced five one-shots, so expect one more to hit some time in October, most likely.

First up is Imperial War: Exiles, which is written by Hickman and Steve Foxe, with art by Francesco Manna. Following up on the events of X-Manhunt, Xavier and Lilandra form a team to save his daughter, the “deposed Empress Xandra.”

Meanwhile, the Nova – Centurion one-shot is written by Hickman and Jed MacKay, with art by Matteo Della Fonte.

In the book, Nova is trying to raise enough money to keep the Xandarian Worldmind alive. Crowdfunding: it’s not just for comic book freelancers unable to support themselves and dying in poverty because the companies they worked their whole lives for never provided support, residuals, or healthcare anymore!

Exiles hits stores on September 3, Nova on September 10.

IDW Announces Twilight Zone Anthology Series:

Imagine if you will, a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of comics. Your next stop? The Twilight Zone, a new comic book series from IDW Publishing’s IDW Dark imprint.

Each issue of the anthology series will not only feature a different creative team, but will also come in black and white — a la the original television broadcast, and not the Jordan Peele remake that nobody wants to remember. The first team to get in the Zone will be writer Dan Watters and artist Morgan Beem.

Future issues of the series will feature creators Tom Scioli, James Stokoe, Nate Powell, and Francesco Francavilla.

While other details are tight at the moment, we do know the series will run five issues and be there to serve man. The Twilight Zone #1 (of 5) will hit stores on September 24.

Dark Horse Announces Kill All Immortals II:

Turns out there are a few more immortals to kill, as Dark Horse has announced Kill All Immortals II, the sequel to the hit series by Zack Kaplan and Fico Ossio.

In the series, a powerful billionaire Viking family called the Asvalds was immortal. Spoilers for the end of the first series, but things changed dramatically in the finale, leading them to give up their immortality. Unfortunately for them, they aren’t the only family of immortals around, and now they’re face to face with supernatural enemies without their own powers.

Per a press release, creator Kaplan compares the hero to Erica Slaughter from Something is Killing the Children, the action to John Wick, and the drama to HBO. And here’s the thing, based on the first series: he’s not wrong.

Kill All Immortals II #1 hits stores on October 1, which gives you plenty of time to catch up on the first series if you missed it.
