UDON Entertainment is the latest company to cut ties with Diamond Comic Distributors. The company announced late last night (May 29) that both UDON and Manga Classics Inc. will no longer ship product through the bankrupt company.
“With the current state of uncertainty and lack of communication from the new owners to both retailers as well as many publishers, we have to do what is best to serve our customers,” said UDON Chief of Operations Erik Ko via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “We realize this is a deep inconvenience for many retailers, but we’re trying to do our best to serve our partners and fans, while minimizing risk and moving forward in an uncertain time.”
UDON titles include their Capcom licensed comics, including Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, and Mega Man, as well as manga and art books based on Elden Ring, Persona, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and more. They also publish manga adaptations of classic novels, including by authors Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Shakespeare, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
If you are an employee of a comic book shop — or a fan of UDON’s books — any titles being released between May and August can now be ordered through Lunar Distribution, instead of Diamond. However, the publisher notes that there is one exception: Mega Man Timelines #1, which is being resolicited for June 25, 2025. Per the publisher, “20% of UDON’s initial orders on the title came from Diamond Comics accounts. To cover new orders from any former Diamond customers switching over to Lunar, UDON will be producing a 25% overprint on all direct market editions of Mega Man Timelines #1.”
UDON also adds that their comics will be available through Universal “in future” as a timeline has yet to be established for the switchover from Diamond to their new owners. graphic novels, manga, art books, and manga classics will all be available through Simon and Schuster.
Added UDOn directly to fans, “We’re sorry for all of the uncertainty and stress that the ongoing Diamond bankruptcy situation is causing you! We hope to continue to make our comics and books available to you with little-to-no interruption. The best thing you can do is remind your local comic shop that you want our comics, and that they are available through Lunar Distribution and Simon & Schuster!”
