IDW Publishing is the latest company to join the upstart comics app Sweet Shop, which will launch later this summer. As part of the launch, Sweet will include Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Top Shelf titles, and more.
“IDW is a creative powerhouse in the comics industry. With their amazing catalog of licensed books like the Teenage Mutant Turtles and their Eisner Award-nominated Star Trek line, to fantastic originals like Beneath the Trees and The Hunger and the Dusk. We can’t have a comic store without IDW,” said Kenny Meyers, owner of Sweet Shop, via a press release provided to Comic Book Club.
IDW is the second major publisher to join Sweet Shop, alongside Image Comics (and presumably more to come).

Whether you’re here for mutant mayhem or cosmic Starfleet drama, we’re excited to bring the full IDW and Top Shelf lineup to Sweet’s digital shelves.”
Sweet Shop will be available on both Apple and Android devices, but the real draw here is that you can browse and buy comics in the app in a “limited DRM-free download format.” Per the release, Sweet notes that you’ll be able to get both IDW and Top Shelf titles this way, globally, “with few exceptions.”
Not only that, but Sweet will embrace both the traditional comic book reading experience and a vertical scrolling function, among other features. You can check it out for yourself on Sweet’s pre-launch site.
