On today’s episode, we’re taking a look through the highlights from DC Comics August 2025 solicits, including Absolute Universe, the Summer of Superman, and more.
This is Comic Book Club News for May 21, 2025.
DC Comics August 2025 Solicits Highlights:
Let’s kick things off with Batman #163, aka the end of H2SH, the sequel to Hush from Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. While the issue finishes the six-issue arc, Loeb and Lee will be back for another six issues, sometime in 2026. Meanwhile, Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom go super saiyan for Immortal Legend Batman, a new miniseries that mixes Batman with anime and manga tropes. And Detective Comics #1100 celebrates the Dark Knight, featuring tales from several all-star teams.
What about the Summer of Superman, you ask? Things get weird in Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum a Black Label series by the folks behind Image Comics’s Ice Cream Man. Superman’s battle against the Absolute Legion of Super-Heroes continues in Superman #29. And in Superman Unlimited #4, Superman has turned into a giant monster and is attacking Gotham City.
Over in the Absolute Universe, we’ll learn the origin of Bane in Absolute Batman #11. Absolute Superman #10 pits Kal-El against Ra’s al Ghul. And Absolute Wonder Woman #11 finds Diana trapped in a maze.
Speaking of Wonder Woman #24, she’s on Mouse Man’s island with Trinity strapped to her back, and if that sentence makes sense to you, good news, you’re a comic book fan. Justice League Red #1 debuts from Saladin Ahmed and Clayton Henry, introducing a covert ops team led by Red Tornado. Cheetah and Cheshire Rob The Justice League is a heist thriller from Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott.
Apokolips is coming for Earth in Justice League Unlimited #10. In Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 #3, Superman and Lex Luthor team up to fight the Great Apes in Hollow Earth. New History of the DC Universe #3 races all the way up to Flashpoint. And Teen Titans Together is a graphic novel bringing together the characters from the best-selling YA solo books by Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo.
