Batman: Dark Patterns has been one of the most consistently excellent books on the stands. Written by Dan Watters, art by Hayden Sherman, each three-issue arc presents a different strange case for Batman to tackle, from a man covered in wounds to a building that talks. And the weird continues in Batman: Dark Patterns #7 from DC Comics, which we’ve got a preview of below.
In the June debuting issue, the third arc, titled “Pareidolia” begins. What does that word mean? Great question! As Bruce Wayne explains in the preview, it’s “the name for how we perceive patterns when there are none.” So what dark pattern are we perceiving in this arc? There are hints here, including fires — which could mean Firefly — but there’s also a bloody red face that seems to indicate a certain joking villain of the superhero. Could it be… Mr. Jokes-A-Lot? Or maybe The Joker, I don’t know.
Either way, check out the preview, below, from the Eisner-nominated Hayden Sherman (and Eisner-nominated Dan Watters, though he wasn’t nominated for this book).
