Elon Musk Graphic Novel Finds Publisher:
Darryl Cunningham’s graphic novel, Elon Musk: American Oligarch, has finally found a publisher. Per ICv2, the book has been picked up by Seven Stories Press and will hit stores in September.
Right after the presidential election, Cunningham was widely reported to have said that the chances of his book finding a publisher outside of France — where the book was already available — were, per Cunningham, “unlikely… We live in a climate of fear where the worst people have immense power.”
However, Seven Stories won’t just publish the book, they’ll also include a new section on Musk’s activities since the election titled “The Shadow President.” And it will feature a new cover with Musk giving a Sieg Heil, which he did back during the inauguration of President Trump, and then several times since.
The 208-page paperback will hit stores on September 9.
James Tynion IV And DANI Will Tackle Invisible Man For Skybound:
Back when Skybound and Image Comics announced they were producing a line of comics based on Universal’s classic monster movies, we knew there were four titles coming. Well, guess what? The Universal Monsters line is rising again with Universal Monsters: The Invisible Man. And returning from the first book — that would be Dracula — is writer James Tynion IV, alongside artist DANI.
Said Tynion IV, “Going back to the first conversation I had with Skybound about the Universal Monsters line, there were two characters I knew I wanted to work on from the start. We started with Dracula, but in my heart my favorite Universal Monster film has always been THE INVISIBLE MAN. It’s a thrill to peel back the bandages and approach Griffin’s story from a whole new angle, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be on this ride with DANI.”
The Invisible Man follows up on Dracula, The Creature From The Black Lagoon, Frankenstein, and the currently running The Mummy. The only question now is: who is taking on The Wolfman?
Universal Monsters: The Invisible Man #1 hits stores on August 27, 2025.
Gilbert Hernandez To Publish Roy For Fantagraphics:
Here’s some exciting news: Fantagraphics will publish Roy #1, a brand-new comic book series from Gilbert and Natalia Hernandez.
You know the name Hernandez from Love and Rockets, which Gilbert created with his younger brother Jaime, and older brother Mario. Now, he teams up with his daughter Natalia for the new series.
In the first issue, Roy teams up with, per PR, “the Little Stunt Boy to deal with Roy’s arch nemesis — the Froat! Or, should we say: the Froats?!? They’re multiplying, they’re wearing board shorts, they’re hopping, they’re popping. Roy has a plan, and that plan involves bringing in some for real Tier One Operators.”
Also, something about nuns. Meanwhile, Natalia helms an eight-page story about an Alien spiritual encounter. Is it an X-Files scenario? Or something else? Regardless, there’s a Granny with a gun so certain segments of the audience will be happy no matter what.
Roy #1 will hit stores on August 6.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. Something about nuns! Good hook.
