Because I demanded it (seriously, I did), IDW’s Locke & Key will join the launch slate of titles on WEBTOON, hitting later today in the vertical scroll comics format. In addition, which I did not demand but seems like a smart idea anyway, Sonic the Hedgehog will also launch on WEBTOON.
The two reformatted titles join three previously announced IDW books: Godzilla: Unnatural Disasters, Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, and They Called Us Enemy. All five series will launch later today on WEBTOON, at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT.
Both of these titles seem to be a smart move for the platform — not just because the dark fantasy of Locke & Key, and the broad appeal of Sonic the Hedgehog seem like natural fits for the popular site and app… But also because there are a lot of issues in both series. So, versus the previously three announced titles, these can keep readers busy for a good long time.
Speaking of which, per a rep for WEBTOON, the series will roll out with three episodes available to read today, as well as an additional five episodes through Fast Pass. From there, they’ll update weekly on the following schedule:
- Beneath the Trees – new episodes every Tuesday
- Locke & Key – new episodes every Wednesday
- Sonic the Hedgehog – new episodes every Thursday
- Godzilla – new episodes every Saturday
- They Called Us Enemy – new episodes every Sunday
