Kevin Smith Pays Tribute To Shannen Doherty With New ‘Quick Stops’ Comic

Quick Stops Volume 3

Kevin Smith is heading back to the world of Chasing Amy with Quick Stops Volume 3 from Dark Horse Comics. And because he cannot resist some tonal whiplash, not only will he pay tribute to the late Shannen Doherty, he’ll also reveal the origin of the nickname “Finger Cuffs.”

The new four-issue series is written by Smith, with art by John Sprengelmeyer, Ryan Gajda, Mark Reihill, and Ahmed Rafaat, all tackling subsequent issues. Andrew Thomas will handle lettering on issues #2-#4, and issue #1 will feature two covers by Sprengelmeyer and one by Kate Bettini.

In the issues, Smith will finally reveal the comic Holden McNeil (Ben Affleck) created about Alyssa Jones (Joey Lauren Adams), as seen in Chasing Amy. Then Smith will honor Doherty with two stories: one about her sense of humor, the other, per PR, “a requiem for her character in Mallrats, Rene.” Other stories in the series include Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith) reuniting with Metatron (Alan Rickman) from Dogma, and the Jones sisters explain how Alyssa got the nickname “Finger Cuffs,” which I thought was explained in the movie, but I guess not.

Quick Stops 3 #1 hits stores on August 13, 2025. You can check out the covers, below.
