‘Darwyn Cooke’s The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition’: Get Your First Look

Are you ready to see Darwyn Cooke’s iconic The Spirit in a whole new way? Well, get ready, because Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing is launching a brand-new format, starting with Darwyn Cooke’s The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition. And we’ve got your first look at some of the pages here.

Published through Skybound and Image Comics, the oversized, collectible format features, per PR, “a slipcase and premium finishing, collecting a complete comics series in an oversized, readable format.”

“This volume showcases one of Darwyn Cooke’s seminal works, and presented in the format it so richly deserves,” said Scott Dunbier. “Like DC: The New Frontier Absolute Edition and the two Parker: Martini Editions, The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition is one of those books we savor and revisit for years to come. I know I will.”

Measuring 9″ by 13.5″, the volume features, per the title, the complete run of Cooke’s The Spirit, including the Batman crossover, a cover gallery, and more, all in one volume. The cover gallery includes all covers from the DC run, as well as variant covers from Rocketeer/The Spirit, and several never-before-seen drawings from Cooke. This edition is designed by Sean Phillips and also includes an introduction by J. Bone. It collects DC’s The Spirit #1-6, #8-12, and DC’s Batman/The Spirit one-shot, written by Jeph Loeb. All stories are inked by J. Bone inking and colored by Dave Stewart.
