Superman Day is here, and what better way to celebrate than with a look behind the scenes of the upcoming movie, Superman? No better way — and thankfully, Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios have released just that: two plus minutes spent looking at the making of the new movie, featuring David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, James Gunn, and many more.
“Being a child, I loved the purity of Superman,” Gunn says right at the top, over images of Christopher Reeve from the iconic 1978 movie. “It was a time I was starting to understand what movies were.”
While we see shots from the Norway set of the movie, Gunn’s co-chair of DC Studios discusses how Gunn didn’t, at first know how to tackle the Man of Steel… Until one day, the writer/director cracked the code.
“This character is noble,” Gunn continued. “And he’s beautiful.”
Not only does the video show off the man trio of Superman (Corenswet), Lex Luthor (Hoult), and Lois Lane (Brosnahan), but we also get much better looks at the other heroes in the movie. Those include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, as well as other cast members like Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and even Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, Sr., no longer sporting his white hair from Creature Commandos.
Superman hits theaters on July 11. Watch the behind-the-scenes featurette, below.
