Suns Out, Buns Out: The ‘Marvel Swimsuit Special’ Returns!

The Marvel Swimsuit Special, a staple of the ’90s, is BACK. The new one-shot titled Friends, Foes & Rivals #1 will feature all the scantily clad heroes and villains you can throw a beach ball at, though as of this writing does not seem to contain The Punisher in a speedo so WHO CARES.

Just kidding. This is important work, the sort of thing that ushers a young boy or girl into adulthood with just one glance, causing the instant onset of puberty as you pass by the cover on the stand, hair sprouting in the weirdest places and a strange urge overcoming you, forcing you to buy multiple variant covers of the same issue. The magazine-format book will contain an overarching story written by Tim Seeley and Tony Fleecs, who know a little something about swimsuit specials from their work on Image Comics’s Local Man. And it will also feature art by Nick Bradshaw, starring Marvel’s own fashion designer, The Wasp.

In addition, the pinups throughout the book will feature art from Nic Klein, Marguerite Sauvage, Luciano Vecchio, and more. And if that wasn’t enough of a tease, you’ll also get a look at some designs for new — presumably swimsuit — costumes coming to Marvel Rivals. More like Marvel Beach Volleyball Rivals, am I right? I am not!
