Are you ready to bite into something spicy this summer? Well get ready as Skybound and Image Comics have announced Ghost Pepper, a new comic book series from creator/writer/artist/letterer Ludo Lullabi and colorist Adriano Lucas, who really seems to be sleeping on the job here by comparison. Just kidding.

“After spending the past few years working on exciting worlds in video games and comics, I’m thrilled to finally share a universe of my own,” notes Lullabi via press release. “With Ghost Pepper, I wanted to tell a story that’s both explosive and full of heart—blending the energy of creators I grew up with, like Otomo and Shirow, with more recent inspirations. Huge thanks to Skybound, Ben, Adriano, and everyone who jumped on board this new adventure. I hope you’ll enjoy exploring this world as much as I’ve enjoyed bringing it to life.”

Added executive editor, Ben Abernathy, “I’ve been a fan of Ludo’s work for many years and the issue of TRANSFORMERS he drew for me ROCKED. His vision for Ghost Pepper, with this complex world and awesome characters, combined with his kinetic storytelling and anime sensibilities, make this a dream project to be a part of.”

In the book, humanity has “survived a monstrous extinction-level threat,” but that doesn’t mean everything has worked out okay. And in the midst of this wrecked world is Loloi, who travels around bringing delicious cooking to the survivors while outsmarting giant robots. Enter into her routine a warrior named Ash, with a secret that could save the world — or destroy it.

Ghost Pepper #1 hits stores on July 16, 2025, with a main cover by Lullabi and variants by Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, Kael Ngu, Joe Madureira, André Araújo & Chris O’Halloran, Yasmine Putri, and a blank sketch cover.
