Sure does! Oh, sorry, we should have set that up better. Daredevil: Born Again has just streamed its season finale on Disney+, and there are some huge cliffhangers for Season 2. While we’ve got a whole Daredevil: Born Again ending explained for that, you might be wondering if you should stick through the credits for a classic Marvel end-credits scene. And the answer we spoiled above is: yes, there is an end credits scene in Daredevil: Born Again.
So in the interest of not being annoying clickbait, let’s get into what you need to know in case you turned off your TV the second Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) gave his big rousing speech at the end of the season. And you probably know this, but spoilers past this point.
How Many End Credits Scenes Does Daredevil: Born Again Have?
While I’m tempted to say “Daredevil: Born Again has two end credits scenes” that’s not true, and don’t let them tell you it’s true. There is a mid-credits scene, and then a little text that you can probably predict after the credits.
Does Daredevil: Born Again Have A Mid-Credits Scene?
Sure does! I already said that! In the season finale, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) has taken over Red Hook — and New York City — with his own private army, aka the Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF). As part of that, he’s caged a number of people, specifically vigilantes, in the basement where he previously tortured and killed Adam (Lou Taylor Pucci), the guy who had an affair with Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer).
One of those vigilantes? Frank Castle, aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). Over the course of the finale, Frank has attempted to fight his way into the Kingpin’s Red Hook stronghold, taking out multiple members of the AVTF. He was confronted by the main ATVF members, all dressed in faux-Punisher outfits, and given the offer to join them. Naturally, Frank refused and got thrown in a cage.
Right in the middle of the credits, though, we cut back to Frank, who summons over a guard. He asks the guard’s name, feigning being humbled and beaten, and the guard tells him his name is Anthony Petruccio. Frank, delighted, notes that it sounds like he’s from New Jersey, and when the friendly guard gets too close… Frank grabs him arm, breaks it, steals the keys and proceeds to break out of Kingpin’s prison.
Whether Punisher is planning on freeing the rest of the prisoners, like Jack Duquesne, aka The Swordsman (Tony Dalton)? TBD. But as is, The Punisher is on the loose and that gives Daredevil a serious advantage in Season 2.
Does Daredevil: Born Again Have An End Credits Scene?
Like I said earlier (god, can you even read) there’s no end credits scene, just the mid-credits scene. However, at the end of the credits we do get a Marvel classic… On screen the words “DAREDEVIL will return in season 2” flash in white letters on black.
What’s sort of neat about this is that this is an extreme rarity for Marvel TV… Loki Season 1 had a similar message since they were already working on additional episodes. Same here, as an eight-episode second season went into production in late February. But other than Loki and Daredevil: Born Again… That’s it for the “will return” message. Fingers crossed as the studio leans into traditional TV production, we get to see this message more frequently.
