Crystal Heart ran online from 2017 through 2024. But now, thanks to Dark Horse, the hit role-playing game-inspired webcomic will be collected in print for the first time.
Written by Eran Abiram with art by Aviv Or, the series follows four friends playing a tabletop role-playing game, and the world of the game they’re imagining.
“We started Crystal Heart in early 2017,” Or said via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “And while we’ve had a vision of the whole story from the get-go, it was still a bit of a feat to actually finish it, seven years later. And now we couldn’t be more excited to see it reach its final form in print! The world of Crystal Heart has lived in our minds for years, created originally for an anime-inspired home game. Sharing it with the webcomic readers and later with players of the RPG has been so fulfilling, and we can’t wait to have even more people experience this weird, fun, unique world for themselves.”
You can check out the official synopsis of the series, below. The 336-page paperback will hit bookstores on November 25, and comic shops on November 26, 2025.
Enter a world where everyone’s heart is made of stone: special agents of an organization called Syn replace their own hearts with mysterious crystals that grant them unique powers, and team up to unearth more of these valuable artifacts around the world. One such team is on course to unearth much more: secrets within their ranks and the mystery behind the crystals themselves.
Rotem, Guy, Lily, and Game Master Nadav jump into a TTRPG campaign, weaving an intriguing—and often hilarious—story about friendship, fantasy, and world-changing magic. Readers will be there with the players as they learn the game, roll dice, discover the world, and shape the narrative in pursuit of the secrets of the crystals.
