This is Comic Book Club News for April 7, 2025.

TFAW Website To Close After 25 Years:

The Things From Another World website will no longer be of this world. After 25 years in operation as an e-commerce site for comic books and collectibles, TFAW and owner Dark Horse Media have announced the site will be shutting down at the end of the month.

Per the site, April 9 will be the last day for pre-orders, April 21 will be the last day for in-stock orders, and on April 30 the site will go offline. Meanwhile, Things From Another World’s three physical locations will stay open for the time being.

This is the latest digital closing from Dark Horse, which shut down its Dark Horse Comics and Plants vs. Zombies app at the end of March.

Marvel To Publish Days Of Future Past Prelude:

Think you’ve read all of the classic X-Men storyline Days of Future Past? Think again. Back in 2020, Chris Claremont and Salvador Larroca published Prelude to a Future Past, a story only available in the prestige Marvel Made Paragon Collection: Chris Claremont. That box set goes for a minimum of $375 on eBay at this point. But now, Marvel is releasing the story in stores, along with the original Days of Future Past storyline, for probably less than $400.

In the story, you’ll discover how the X-Men saved Rachel Summers, leading right into the classic time-travel storyline. And the one-shot — titled X-Men By Chris Claremont: Prelude to a Future Past #1 will include that newer story, as well as the two issues of the comic book storyline from 1981, and per PR, “bonus materials celebrating Chris Claremont’s fifty-plus years in comics.”

The one-shot will hit stores on July 2.

Andy Schmidt Named New EIC Of BOOM! Studios:

BOOM! Studios has a new Editor-in-Chief, and his name is Andy Schmidt.

Per Bleeding Cool, Schmidt starts work this week and has a long history with comics behind him. He started the site Comics Experience, produced documentaries like The Image Revolution, and most importantly, was a guest on the Comic Book Club live podcast in 2023.

Previously, he worked as an editor at Marvel for many years, before heading to IDW and then Hasbro, where he worked on a number of Transformers properties among other things. Point being, Schmidt has a lot of experience, and should be a perfect fit for BOOM!

Also as part of the changes at the publisher, Lily Kessinger is joining as Editor, and Olivia Dontsov as Managing Editor. Congrats to all.

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And I bet some of the folks who spent hundreds of bucks on that Claremont collection would like to travel back in time to warn themselves a cheaper version is coming out later this year. But you can’t. Time travel doesn’t exist.
