Meet The Cast Of ‘Major Thomás,’ A New Sci-Fi Epic From Comixology [EXCLUSIVE]

On March 25, Comixology will launch Major Thomás, a new YA space adventure about the first-ever hyperspace traveler for NASA, who just happens to be a Mexican-American farmworker. And Comic Book Club has an exclusive “Meet The Cast” feature to share with you, in advance of the book’s release, tomorrow.

“I created Major Thomás to inspire young brown people from all over the world to reach for their dreams, no matter the obstacles, no matter their circumstances,” says writer Omar Morales via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “The fictional characters in Major Thomás are inspired by real-life Latino heroes, and put into a fun, sci-fi adventure story.”

In the book, per PR, “Thomás Mùnoz was born into poverty with one dream—exploring the cosmos as an astronaut with his best friend, Lisa.  While Thomás studies and overcomes many of his circumstances to become Major Thomás, a NASA astronaut, he continues to suffer from anxiety and imposter syndrome.”

While this book is sci-fi (there are aliens, robots, and more), there is some science fact involved, as the book also includes a forward from real astronaut José M. Hernández, a former migrant worker who went to space in 2009, and inspired Amazon’s A Million Miles Away.

Beyond Morales, the book also features an entirely Latino creative team including artists Serg Acuña and Mau Mora, colorists Raúl Angulo and Fabi Marques, letterer Taylor Esposito, and graphic designer Gab Contreras.

Major Thomás hits Comixology on March 25. Check out the “Meet The Cast” feature below, and click the images for larger versions.
