This is Comic Book Club News for March 21, 2025.

Fantastic Four Reboots With New Number One Issue:

Just in time for Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel is rebooting the Fantastic Four title with a new number one.

Written by Ryan North with art by Humberto Ramos, the series will continue where North’s previous volume of the book left off, with the FF racing through Earth’s history in a fight with Doctor Doom. The team will all be separated into different time periods, and on the search for something called the Forever Stone.

Said North, via The Hollywood Reporter, “People often think of the FF in terms of family, and they’re not wrong, but I think there’s something really beautiful about friendship too, and we get to see that with these characters. It’s high-concept science fiction with real emotion. What’s not to like?”

The first over-sized issue will hit stores in July.

Jason Aaron Pits Godzilla Vs. Thor:

Marvel’s sixth one-shot pitting the King of the Monsters versus the Marvel Universe has been revealed: Godzilla vs. Thor #1 will reunite lauded Thor writer Jason Aaron with his Avengers collaborator, artist Aaron Kuder.

Said Aaron, “There are almost as many toy kaiju in my office as there are Mjolnirs, which is really saying something, so it made sense for me to bring two of my favorite characters together for one titanic clash. Aaron Kuder and I are using the Godzilla from Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, one of the most brutal and powerful versions of the King of the Monsters, so expect a colossal battle that I think will rival some of the most epic, cosmic throwdowns I’ve ever written with the God of Thunder.”

While this is the sixth of six issues in the de facto series, Marvel also teases there’s more Godzilla to come in their future. Meanwhile, Godzilla vs. Thor #1 hits stores on July 2.

Kevin Smith Returns To Marvel:

Kevin Smith has been on a tear lately, with a Jay and Silent Bob/Archie Comics crossover, and playing the voice of The Penguin in a DC audio drama. And now Smith is returning to Marvel as well for Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man #1.

Alongside artist Giuseppe Camuncoli, Smith will team up Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four in, per a press release, “[a] story that will have your heart beating in overdrive and your sides hurting from how much you’re laughing.”

The over-sized issue will also include Al Ewing and Mark Buckingham, and Chip Zdarsky and Cafu.

Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man #1 hits stores on June 11.
