AHOY Comics Is Heading To ITHACON [EXCLUSIVE]

They say Ithaca is Gorges, but did you know it’s also the home of ITHACON, the second longest-running comic convention in the United States? It’s true! And this year’s con is more gorges than ever thanks to the inclusion of AHOY Comics, who will be hosting a panel, dropping a poster, and more.

“ITHACON is the second-oldest comic con in the U.S. It’s also the first-best!” said AHOY Editor-in-Chief Tom Peyer via a press release provided to Comic Book Club.

Added Matt Bors, the writer behind Toxic Avenger among other AHOY titles, “I’m proud to debut the new TOXIC AVENGER collection in Ithaca, the greatest American city outside of Tromaville.”

Held Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6 at Ithaca College’s Emerson Suites, the show will welcome AHOY’s Publisher Hart Seely, Chief Creative Officer Frank Cammuso, as well as Peyer and Bors for a “Planning Your Toxic Summer” panel on April 5, starting at 2:30 pm in the Clark Lounge.

“Matt and Fred’s Toxic Avenger is a true outsider that any sensitive lover of comics can relate to, right down to his pink tutu,” continued Peyer. “The wider cast of TEAM-UP writers and artists gets this, too. There’s a lot of great material coming up, starting with the TOXIC AVENGER collected edition for compulsives like me who need to start at square one.”

This is all part of the kick-off of AHOY’s Toxic Mess Summer, which includes The Toxic Avenger Pinup Special, The Toxie Team-Up, and the release of the Toxic Avenger trade paperback collection. The Pinup Special will include TBA artists paying tribute to the history of Troma, and will land in stores on May 14. Toxie Team-Up will, per the title, team up the Toxic Avenger with everyone from Acid Chimp to Jesus Christ himself, and launch the first issue on June 11. Meanwhile, the Toxic Avenger trade will hit on April 1. No fooling!
