The titanic rematch between the DC Universe and Legendary’s Monsterverse is coming very, very soon. June 4, to be precise. And in advance of the release of Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 #1, we’ve got a look at three interior pages, as well as multiple covers for the issue.
Written once again by Brian Buccellato, with art by Christian Duce and colors by Luis Gurrero, Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 is a seven-issue sequel that finds the DC heroes traveling to the Monsterverse. How and why does this happen? Of course, it’s Amanda Waller’s fault.
After the events of the first series, Waller hatches a plan to use Task Force X to develop hybrid Titans she can control. So the Justice League heads to the Legendary Earth, faces the dangers of Hollow Earth, and once again comes into conflict with Kong and Godzilla. To amp things up even bigger, the series will introduce “titanized” versions of DC’s heroes and villains as they face off against the Legendary monsters. And in addition to new Titans from, per a press release from DC, “the Legendary Comics Monsterverse, the series will also feature the comic book return of Col. Lee Shaw, who first appeared in the 2014 graphic novel Godzilla: Awakening.” Yep, the same character played by Wyatt Russell (and later Kurt Russell) on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 #1 is available for preorder starting Friday, March 21, and goes on sale on June 4 with a main cover by Duce, and variants by Dan Mora, Alan Quah, Gabriel Hardman, John Giang, Kevin Maguire, and Carlos D’Anda.
