This is Comic Book Club News for March 7, 2025.
Daredevil: Born Again Hits February 2025 Graphic Novel Sales Charts:
The top selling graphic novels of February 2025 are here, and while Ultimates Volume 1 took the top slot, number two is the Marvel Premier Collection of Daredevil: Born Again. It’s pretty clearly gotten a big bump thanks to the show, which is pretty funny because the storyline was adapted in Season 3 of Daredevil, while the new series adapts an entirely different storyline.
Regardless, Marvel rounded out the top three with the first volume of Ultimate Spider-Man which has now sat at the top of the charts for six months. DC had a lighter showing than usual, with only four Compact Comics volumes, and the hardcover collection of Absolute Power.
The Power Fantasy Volume 1, smartly priced at $9.99, debuted at number five on the charts. And other highlights include multiple volumes of Invincible, actually tying into the new season of that TV series, as well as perennial favorites like IDW’s The Last Ronin and Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees.
Rainbow Rowell Returns To Runaways:
They thought their running away days were over… But the Runaways are back in a new five-issue miniseries from Marvel, written by Rainbow Rowell with art by Elena Casagrande, tying into One World Under Doom.
In the series, the team’s newest member Doombot — a reprogrammed Doom robot — becomes the target of Emperor Doom. Complicating things, Nico Minoru has lost her girlfriend and her magic, Karolina, Chase and Alex have left, and Gert is trying to hold the team together. This series marks Rowell’s return to the title, after a lauded run from 2017-2021… And the first time Casagrande has worked on a team book.
Runaways #1 will hit stores on June 11.
Kirbyvision, The Definitive Kirby Documentary, Is Coming:
Kirby, Kirby, Kirby is a name you should know. But if you’re not familiar with the iconic comic book creator, Kirbyvision, a feature length documentary, will tell the full story of his life thanks to director Ricki Sterns.
The new documentary is working with the Jack Kirby estate, as well as the Jack Kirby Museum and Research Center, to, per a press release, “access a treasure trove of personal documents, home movies, and creative materials, many widely unseen by the public until now.”
While there are no additional details about the documentary at this time, including release date, here’s hoping it will finally settle the debate about how Kirby can take on the powers of his enemies after he inhales them.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And I love playing Kirby in Super Smash Bros, his Final Smash is punching Nazis.
