‘Invincible’ Voice Cast: Who’s Who In Season 3, Episode 7, From Jeffrey Dean Morgan to Jonathan Banks

Invincible Angstrom Levy

If you thought Invincible was slow playing it this season? Well, welcome to “What Have I Done?” a wild episode that completely changed the Invincible universe forever. And along with the game-changing events came a ton of guest stars, including the highly anticipated debuts of Jonathan Banks and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Wondering who’s who in the Invincible voice cast for Season 3, Episode 7? Read on.

But first, let’s do some recap to give context (Conquest?) for the episode. And massive spoilers past this point.

Things start off with a flashback to where we left Angstrom Levy in Season 2: seemingly dead after Mark punched his head to smithereens. And in fact, he was nearly dead, but instead took a portal to a dimension where beings called The Technicians were waiting to fix him, in case just what happened did, indeed, happen.

Months later, Angstrom is fixed, and has an army of Marks from other dimensions ready to destroy the Earth. His plan? Ruin Invincible’s reputation entirely, and in exchange he’ll send the other Marks to dimensions of their liking.

On Day One of the Invincible War, Mark and Eve are talking about what happened with Powerplex last episode, and why Eve doesn’t want Mark to meet his parents… When it’s revealed that all the Invincibles are flying around the world destroying major cities. While the comic book crossover gave us the entire Image Comics roster, here we get Robert Kirkman characters like Astounding Wolfman and Brit showing up, Which is neat, but whither Witchblade, Spawn, and Savage Dragon. Damn you, TV rights!

Anyway, over to Rex and Rae, who are still dating despite how things seemed at the end of last episode. Rae is moving into her new place, and when the Invincibles attack, Rex leaves to help — leaving Rae behind.

What follows is nearly a 20 minute non-stop, on and off fight scene. Mark fights the jerkwad Mohawk Mark at a prison, only to be waylaid by some heroes who think our Mark is a bad Mark (seems reasonable). Powerplex escapes, sees what’s happening, and loves it: Mark is finally getting what he deserves, though Powerplex is almost immediately knocked out by Mohawk Mark.

Oliver leaves to help, which Debbie initially resists but ultimately understands. She leaves to go stay with Paul, and by the end of the episode we know they’re fine because mostly urban areas were attacked.

Our first bad Mark death is the Flaxan Mark, who is killed by a bunch of Reanimen in the Pentagon, but in the process the building is destroyed, and Donald gets half his body shredded off. However, it spurs Cecil to call in every hero in the world to stop the Marks.

On Day Two, we see those heroes, led by Brit. Oliver shows up and fights one of the bad Marks, while Eve and Mark take on Grifter Mask Mark, who loves to curse. Unfortunately for them, Omni-Invincible shows up to take them both on, breaking Eve’s leg nearly clean off. Cecil helps distracts Grifter and Omni with Reanimen long enough for our Mark to bring Eve in to the GDA (Global Defense Agency)… And in the process, Donald successfully lobbies Cecil to let him go out and help.

In a little bit of a goofy side-trip, Lensless Invincible gets knocked into the tomb of Ka-Hor (remember him?), freeing the mummy as well as Riley and an emaciated Jane, before he is sucked back into his prison until next season.

Over at the Guardians of the Globe, Lensless breaks Darkwing’s leg (what is it with them and legs?), decapitates Immortal, and rips Shapesmith in half. And in the ultimate self-sacrifice (until the next one), Darkwing takes Lensless to the Shadow Dimension, presumably dies there, trapping this alternate Mark forever.

In another side-trip, we check in on Rick and William, who are still on campus. William almost gets crushed by a falling building, but Rick — who is a cyborg now, like Donald — saves him.

The next big event? Exposed Forehead Mark is attacking the Teen Team. Bulletproof, on Rex’s command, gets Robot and Monster Girl to safety, which is when Rex throws everything has at EFM… But it’s not enough. Nothing phases this Mark, and he’s about to pop Rex’s head off, which is when Rex blows up the one thing he has left. Reaching into an open wound in his side, he charges himself up, obliterating his own body and ripping this Mark to pieces in the process. Rae, driving to help, sees him sacrifice himself, as does the rest of the team. RIP, Rex.

The rest of Day Two is mostly montages showing the level of destruction, as well as various Marks being killed: the Reanimen kill the Long Hair Mark, Mustache Mark is dead, and Powerplex killed one as well, much to his delight. Meanwhile, our Mark won’t leave Eve’s side, even with Cecil’s encouragement.

On Day Three, there are eight Marks left, and it’s time for Angstrom to enact the next phase of his plan. Only it goes wrong immediately, with all the Marks deciding they don’t need Angstrom, and will torture him until he gives them what they want. Instead, Angstrom knocks them all through portals to a deserted dimension, ending the Invincible War with still half the episode to go. Wild!

What follows is a big fight between Mark and Angstrom, with our Mark much better at fighting the portal master this time. And even with a nearly unlimited amount of destructive probes at his disposal, Mark is able to fight back. He’s holding on to Angstrom, when Oliver shows up and tells Mark to kill him. Before we can find out what Mark would be — kill or not — Angstrom escapes, with Invincible holding on to his arm after it gets cut off by a portal. And to add insult to injury, The Technicians decide whatever deal they had with Angstrom is done: now he works for them.

In the aftermath, we discover that hundreds of thousands of people died, and most major cities are destroyed. Mark goes to help with the relief efforts, and Powerplex sees him there and attacks. While Oliver again is ready to kill, Mark instead gets him to help defuse his power by simply holding him down.

Back at the GDA, Mark finally meets Eve’s parents, and has a sad conversation about death with her Mom. Immortal is alive, and decides to start a family with Kate. And left with once again the remnants of the Guardians, Cecil tells Mark he wants him to lead the team. Mark refuses, and Cecil tells him that if he wants to talk, no strings attached, he’s there for him.

But wait, there’s more! Just as Mark arrives in New York to help with clean-up, Conquest arrives. He’s the Viltrumite sent to make sure Invincible is preparing Earth for their upcoming invasion, and Mark, clearly, has not done that. Mark wants to hit something as hard as he can. “Good,” says Conquest, and they fly at each other… Setting up the season finale.

Invincible Mark Alternates

Woof, lots of big cameos in this episode, huh? As usual we won’t break down the main cast — you can check out previous breakdowns linked above for that — but let’s get into it. And to mention up top: yep, every single alternate version of Mark is voiced by Steven Yeun.

Things kick off with Jonathan Banks as Brit, the character created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore. Brit had his own series of comics, which were partially adapted for Donald’s storyline in Season 2 of Invincible. Banks you likely know as Mike Ehrmantraut on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. It also makes this a mini-reunion with Aaron Paul, who once again plays Powerplex after his debut last episode, and also appeared in BB/BCS.

Chloe Bennet, aka Quake from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., returns as the voice of Riley the tomb raider this episode. Since her partner Jane is nearly dead, she is not voiced by Ella Purnell, but those who know her character Jackie from Yellowjackets might think it’s pretty funny that she once again looks like a beef jerky corpse. Clancy Brown also (briefly) returns as the voice of Ka-Hor. Among many, many other roles, he also plays the voice of Damien Darkblood and Kregg on Invincible.

Doug Bradley plays the voice of The Technicians, and it’s perfect casting because he’s best known as Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies… And The Technicians are basically Cenobites.

Let’s get to the big one: Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the voice of Conquest, though online folks had speculated he could be Viltrumite Emperor Thragg (heck, maybe he still will be). Morgan is best known for playing the John Winchester on Supernatural. But perhaps more important, he’s Negan on The Walking Dead, which was also created by Robert Kirkman. And what is Negan most famous for? Bashing in Glenn’s head. And who played Glenn? Steven Yeun, who voices Invincible. Yep, it’s Negan vs. Glenn, round two, which must have been irresistible to the actors, and writers of the show.

Fred Tatasciore returns as the voice of Adam, Eve’s father (you get it), and he’s voiced Killcannon, sam, and others, though outside of the show you might know him as the animated voice of The Hulk. Grey Delisle, the voice of Shrinking Rae, is also the voice of Eve’s mom Betsy. Which sort of means that Eve’s mom is dating her ex-boyfriend. Weird.

Gary Anthony Williams, the voice of Uncle Ruckus on The Boondocks and a cast-member of Whose Line Is It Anyway? plays the news anchor helpfully laying out any info we need to know throughout this packed episode.
